He is risking long term security by accepting the qualifying offer, but it will allow him to be a UFA in the summer of 2022.
IMO Reinhart wants out of Buffalo too. Sabres are losing with him and Eichel. This summer the Sabres should trade their two best players for good assets.

He has removed any mention of the sabers from social media. He is probably going to be on a different team next year

Just a prediction: The kings end up with one of Jack Eichel or Sam Reinhart by the start of the 2021-2022 NHL Season.

If he isn't getting traded, that gets him out as soon as possible. Seems like he might want out too.

My understanding is that if he rejects the offer and goes to arbitration, the worst that the arbitrator can do is award him his QO, so what's the incentive for him to accept? It doesn't get him out of Buffalo any sooner.

The QO, unlikely. With the Sabres, 0% chance.

Imo Reinhart would sign long term with sabres but wants to be paid accordingly.
.I would have no problem with an 8x8

He's definitely not signing a long term deal. The guy has one foot out the door

Sam will reject his qualifying offer and go to arbitration. The Sabres can't do this because it will allow Sam to walk at the end of the year. It either long-term extension (not likely) or trade him (very likely). Him and Jack seem to be a united front on this aspect.

Why. What has he said that made it known he was out the door.
He was just non commital to the press but who wouldn't be in his situation. He knows the team needs to sign him to try to be competitive next year so he is trying to maximize his position.
Realistically he could be on his way out but being noncommittal in a press conference to reporters after a shot season wouldn't automatically point to that
