Description
It is very hard to come up with Values for what players are worth/what other teams would be asking for. I am trying to figure out how we can get 2/3 wingers as I think that is a soft spot of the roster at the moment. I am also basing this off the fact that both Parayko and Jones are UFAs at the end of 2022. Use the old St. Louis Cardinals way and bring a guy in for a year as a trial run and try to sign them. I am not even sure if this is good from a blues prospective but trying to figure out how to keep the window open but also find a way to actually compete with the Avs, Golden Knights, and what will surely be a tough central division next year.

That is the 21st pick in the draft if Detroit doesn't draft Wallstedt then maybe we can get Cossa but I don't see him getting past Edmonton at 19. So I think you at least consider it. Jones will be far more expensive.

Are you saying Dunn is as good as Jones? I like Dunn and I would consider the Detroit trade but jones and Dunn aren't all that close in value.

The last 2 years Dunn has been better than Jones. Obviously Jones 3-4 years ago was great and better than Dunn is now but the last 2 years especially Jones has been bad defensively and when Werenski got injured Jones's offensive game disappeared as well

You are right there. I do think Werenski is better than both of them but I'm bias. I've reffed a few of his games and seen him play quite a bit.

Oh thats so cool! And he definitely is better than Jones and Dunn, Werenski is so underrated considering Jones gets more attention for some reason. Werenski might be a future Wing too since he's from Michigan

Throw in a 1st rounder and add Matheson going the other way and the pens maybe accept lol. But that’s a big yikes for Pittsburgh to take on though for McCann.

Perception is everything and after looking at their stats I do see where you are coming from but I do think CBJ gets more for Jones than STL gets for Dunn. That being said the more I look at the Dunn trade the more I like it. The draft is wide open this year and STL wants to move Dunn before the expansion draft which could hurt Dunn's value a bit.

Not only did he go to U of M he is also from the area. Yeah but every time Detroit fans start saying he is coming to Detroit to play as soon as he is a UFA it pretty much doesn't happen.

Tbh I did this mostly to see what people thought of valuations for players. I don't know that I really should have included the jones deal, but I honestly don't know his value. Is he still an elite defenseman? How much leverage does CBJ actually have with him saying he's not re-signing? Look I don't think the Blues really even call (Even if I think they should) and honestly other teams will have more to offer than the blues will. Vince Dunn is also an interesting case because I think he is worth somewhere in the 23-45 range of a pick, whatever that is. As a blues fan, I am obviously going to be biased on value, but I think they are in a tough spot here as they feel they really only have 2-3 more years of a "cup window" (Armstrong's words not mine) but unless they really add some pieces that can help, colorado is going to walk over them for those 3 years and then those big term contacts they gave to the likes of Faulk/Schenn/Krug etc are going to hurt for the long run

Honest opinion, too streaky of a player, gets hurt way too often to trust him to play 75 games a year, and his production is not going to fit what he is going to get on the open market. I tried to see if I could get sort of a 2 players for the price of 1 and see how it looks. Let's all be honest here, no way any GM does any of these deals, but I am trying to put a baseline of where this team will look next year and what would even be out there as an option

Probably right, like I said above, I think the rangers second is probably fair but the way my brain was working was trying to re coup a first that we lost in the Jones deal that I probably underpaid CBJ

Cholowski holds no interest, the Blues are already swimming in LDs better than him. I suppose theoretically Svech might be of some mild interest, but I wouldn't bet on it. Honestly, I'm not sure the Wings have a prospect they'd be willing to give up that matches the Blues needs. Maybe a double draft pick thing is possible. Personally, I'd rather try to offload Krug smartly and keep Dunn.

Dunno. I'd think they'd be more interested in guys like Woo and Brook, but maybe.
