Foligno

Created by: DDossett

Published: Jun. 2, 2021

Description
Well the whole point was to try and build a team with the foligno brothers and and trade the current "core" out. But i think it looks alright for a "rebuild" bet it does better than current roster healthy.

Reinhart is absolutely the better player, but I'd be extremely surprised if we move Foligno. He's fit like a glove in our bottom 6 and I wouldn't be surprised if he wears an "A" for us next season (assuming there's a Parise divorce).

I've loved every single public-facing interaction he has had since joining the team. He seems like a really down-to-earth dude and is a straight-shooter with his quotes. If I ever live in Minnesota again I hope I bump into him at a bar so I could buy him a beer and shoot the ****. Plus he's one of the better defensive forwards in the league.

During the Eichel tank he was a bright spot the whole time he does a lot of the little things all the time that show how good his character and approach to preparing for the game are was a shame he got traded.

He definitely seems like a good character guy. Everything that has happened with Buffalo has been really unfortunate. For their sake I hope they can turn things around. Now that they won the draft lottery, everyone is saying Owen Power is the de facto pick for them but I wouldn't be surprised if they trade Eichel and opt for Beniers. Hopefully things turn around for them, you never like to see a franchise struggle every year (trust me, I'm also a Wolves fan).

He should have been wearing the "C" this year.

Certainly seems like he deserved it. I love Spurge, and he should have an "A", but if I'm Billy I make Foligno my captain.

Seattle or no team wants to hamstrung by Skinner's horrendous 9m X 7 contract. Wild aren't giving up two good players for what may be just one year of Reinhart.

Signing reino's on them, greenways coming up and reino produces more points then both, on the sabres. also he's a decent 2c option. Also i can sweeten the pot, 2nd pick, bjork, collin miller, take some cap name your poison.
As to seattle not taking the 5th overall pick, in thier 1st draft, to get a previous 40 goal (really 25) scorer because he has 6 more years left on a rough contract is a little absurd. The player they take will still be an RFA when his contract is up and he's a solid asset as a top 6 player when there will not be many top 6 players available. Jeff skinner could be the best player they get. If they think they're gonna be like vegas its gonna be rough for seattle.

I don't even give Spurgeon an "A". Good player, but I don't see the leadership in him during games (granted isn't everything). He's more of the same as Koivu and Suter: lowkey, quiet, and stoic about things. Koivu at least had a beast mode aspect to his game, too bad it didn't show up often.

Going into the season for me it would have been Foligno "C", Suter and Parise the "A" (they hadn't done anything to warrant losing them the prior year. For next year Parise would lose and "A" and JEE gets it. Brodin is heir apparent to Suter's "A".

Kunin would have gotten the "C" eventually if he wasn't traded away imo. Now I think it'll eventually end up on Kaprizov's chest.

Don’t like the Eichel or Reinhart deals
    Gotta get better value

And you’re building around the wrong brothers imo....
we should go after the Tkachuk bros.
    Reinhart for Matty T
Olofsson + Quinn for Brady +

I don't think your getting the Tkachuks, definately not with those packages. You'll have to overpay to pry them away.
I don't feel the deals are favorable to the sabres but might be what has to be done. Reino is unsigned and eichel is injured so this could be a good haul from that perspective.
Finally, foligno's are local boys. It'd be great to have them as sabres (..and maybe they'd actually want too)

Laine is like picking up Reinhart it would make no sense. You would be better off trading for Elvis Merzļikins

Nick has clearly declined & you’re massively overpaying him
And Marcus is a 3rd liner
Adding these guys is nice & all, but it doesn’t really move the needle either

....well either way i need a right winger, reino has value as a center option as well so laine just fits my need. Plus the theory is reino wants to go. Your right tho i could just keep reino.

Buffalo's probably going to have to over pay any free agents and folignos main purpose is veteran leadership for my rebuild which gets me too i think this moves the needle a lot! I can see this team getting 80+ points a year. A feet the sabres have accomplished 1 time in 5 years. This is a competitive team worth watching until prospects develop to take it to the next level. That's the thought, cup contender in 3 years if not sooner.
