Winnipeg isn’t going to acquire much through free agency, and draft picks late teens, early 20s. So a change of scenery trade with a former second overall pick with team control, is a worthwhile gamble in my opinion. Probably wouldn’t pay a ton but a worthwhile gamble none the less.

Makar could have looked awfully nice on PHI

It hurts even more when apparently the scouting staff was high on Makar but Hextall wanted Patrick

    Vesalainen or Demelo?

Both are too much for Patrick.

Patrick has okay upside still as he has been strugling with injuries and such his whole career. If he ever gets back on track he may be a great player yet.

    I would consider trading a 3rd or 4th round pick and a long-shot prospect

Or would you consider Dano for Patrick 1 for 1?

Nice to see a glass half full approach 🥃

I think he'll definitely right his ship

Maybe just to be a 40 pt player but hey not too shabs

Hextall's draft pedigree was so overrated. For as much of a draft guru he's made out to be, we don't have much to show for a it. Missed on three first rounders.

    Rubtsov, Patrick, Obrien?

edit: He also made some great picks in later rounds like Lindblom in the 5th and even though not late Hart in the second round is a steal he's probably over hyped by some but he did a pretty decent job but yeah he missed on some picks

Based on his play last season, this might sound controversial, but I personally wouldn't give up more than the equivalent of a 3rd rounder if I'm a GM.

If that were actually the asking Price VGK should roll the dice, they are XD exempt, and could use higher quality C’s.

COL which had the highest odds that lottery had Nolan Patrick #1 on their board too.

I mean, as a 18 and 19 year old he put up back to back 30 point seasons. In my mind that is the floor. I wouldnt be surprised if he put up a 50 point season at some point given the right opportunity.

This year was abysmal for him though at only a 14 point pace in 82 games... So the question is whether this season is an outlier or if something has happened to him causing a huge regression that he has trouble getting back from.. I would imagine it is the former, but it is still a small risk trading for him at this point.
