Description
I’m sure someone offers Hoffman more. Just one step, can’t simply change over night and why give up every prospect to do so.

Gotta deal with quick. I didn’t know what to do and ya may as well see what he does this upcoming year. It’ll then be easier to deal him away with 1y remaining. Since, all has no brakes. Maybe he plays good and it all works out. Not sure how much they want to shed him, I would think everyone would want him to stick around, but if they want to go for this might be one of those cases where it has to be done wether anyone likes it or not. Not next year but the year after is when you really go for it and quick at almost $6M on the cap is a waste of assets especially since you need to sign the other guy that’s holding it down next year.

By the end of the year you will know what you have in iffalo kemp’s Anderson, well that bottom six and you can make some descisions and see what direction to go with the forward group. If a couple young’s guys step up who are not in the lineup like turcotte and several other, you then acquire a steller bottom 6 and a top 2d man next offseason and see if that can get you there.
An option maybe is to get dougie, see what you got in young guys on fwd then acquire the players needed next offseason to make a push.

LA will not trade Byfield for Eichel. LA insiders have already reported that the Kings are no longer in on Eichel because Buffalo is insisting on Byfield in the return package, and that is a deal-breaker for the Kings.

So we should go from a team with $20 million in cap space and only inexpensive players to re-sign to fill the 5 open slots to a team with no cap space, no Byfield, no Kaliyev, no Thomas and no 2022 first-round draft pick? All for a Jack Eichel that might not hit the ice until half the season is over, and might not be 100% even when he does?

I don't see that as progress.

How about keeping either kaliyev or Thomas and replacing them with quick?
I understand byfield is off the table but it’s the only way it happens. Doesn’t doesn’t need 10 prospects

Also, I'm not sure why LA "has to deal" with Quick. They don't need the cap space. He's perfectly fine as a backup goaltender (he had more wins than Petersen this season, despite 10 fewer starts). They don't have any NHL ready goaltenders in the pipeline either and Petersen is set to be a UFA next summer. While he'll likely extend, there's no guarantee that he doesn't test free agency. Quick isn't going anywhere until Petersen extends.

I suspect Quick stays in LA until his contract expires and serves as a capable backup to Petersen.

Then it doesn't happen.

NSH quite easily rejects that.
