Yes Mozyakin is thrown in there as a token to Geno

Also it'd be totally crazy if retired with 0 NHL gp 😶

IMO Ryan is probably either a member of the Kracken(he is from that area) or the Flames next year

I sincerely doubt Hextall is dumb enough to buy him out anytime soon

Why would we even think about his buyout? It's absolute stupid.

If you want our expansion-exempt highly marketable starting goaltender, you'd have to do a hell of a lot better than that.

Ok so buyout Tanev which gives the pens a 1.8 million cap hit the next 3 years and replace him with a player making 1.5 million. You do realize that’s almost the same exact cap hit and now you’re replacing a player that fits and plays well everywhere for someone that might not even fit. That just seems illogical to me and a waste of an asset. It’s not like Tanev doesn’t have value. Just trade him lol.

I think the Pens could get a return in a trade for Tanev. So why buy him out?? Especially if they were to retain 500k-1M in salary.

That would be less retained money than a buyout too.Trading Tanev at 2.5M-3M salary would definitely bring back a return.
