Description
Yeah this rebuild is taking a while, but it's beginning to look better. Seider and Raymond are looking good, and this year was promising. The prospect pool is starting to fill up, with lots of upcoming picks, so the future is bright. I think that Detroit will have a passive offseason, resigning RFAs long term and accepting cap dumps for picks. The Adam Erne trade is a big on here, as he had an impressive year but I don't think he's ever been part of the Yzerplan, so it's best to sell high and recieve a goalie prospect, while Calgary get's someone who can play up and down the lineup and a pick for a goalie prospect who they won't need after signing Markstrom. Speaking of the Yzerplan, I think that Detroit should draft Wallstedt, though having another prospect is still a good idea incase you don't draft him or he doesn't work out. That being said, if you don't draft Wallstedt, Detroit should draft Kent Johnson as a 1 or 2 c for the future.

Who will our goalie be when Markstrom is gone? Retired or walks? Wolf is a top 3 prospect in our system and won't be traded baring a MASSIVE overpay

Realize Hronek is “untouchable” but more realistically he has a price tag that they’d consider moving him for. What would wings be looking for?

I’m sure Detroit has the appetite to take on Ladd’s contract based on prior history (eg Savard, Staal). That said Tuomisto was selected with Yzerman’s second pick (35th overall) and is tracking well. So that Islander trade is definitely tilted in NY’s favor, considering he still has 8M in cash (5M post SB) and 11M AAV remaining the value should reflect that. Staal was 3.2M & 5.7M AAV but provided 18+ minutes and mentoring while Ladd has routinely been scratched and doesn’t exactly fit in Detroit’s bottom 6. I don’t see Calgary trading Wolf either.

Calgary trade is a no from Flames.
Erne is an Yzerman guy. He drafted in Tampa, traded for him when he took over as GM in Detroit.
Columbus could have claimed him twice when he was placed on waivers.
Ladd has two years left so a 1stand some low picks might get it done, but asking for a 2nd round pick who has played well at U of Denver is a no go. Islanders should expect to pay and not get much back in return for Ladd.

Over all Yzerman has started the rebuild the right way and is slowing stock piling thr prospects and figuring out what he wants to keep and what he does not want to keep.

Thank you for alerting me on this. I had no clue who he was an this thought he was just an average late round goalie prospect.

Nah, last year he won WHL, CHL, and American (minor hockey) goalie of the year. This year he has so far won the WHL goalie of the year again. He also temporarily stole the starter job from Knight at the WJC
