Description

No rumors about this, just thought it was interesting for a local kid that I know was very high on STL's draft list in 2016 - they were trying to move into the top-5 to get him. He hasn't quite performed to that contract, I wonder if he'd be available for a decent price.

Logic: Doug and Bill Armstrong connection, Dunn replacing OEL for cheaper, Keller owed big money for 7 years. Yotes could really use a 1st rounder this year. 16oa is right around where the talent may disappear.

Would make a lot of sense especially if the Blues end up moving on from Tarasenko. I was going to put that trade in this mock but tbh I have zero clue on how to come up with that value when you factor in his surgeries, his AAV, and my homer love for him as a Blue.

If I'm Arizona & I'm trading Keller to St. Louis, I'm focused on Kyrou or Thomas coming the other way.

That's the thing though, Arizona doesn't need to be getting a ton older either. They are in the process of building out their long-term core of players to build a team around. Keller is one of them, so in order for the Yotes to move on from him, they would need another solid young player that they can implement on to their roster & build the rest of their team around.

Currently, they've got Chychrun, Garland, and Keller. That's really about it at this point. Soderstrom should be added to that list when he gets the full-time nod at the NHL level, but they really don't have the surplus of young, core assets that they would need in order to trade one off for a 33-year old "win now" kind of forward on the last year of his contract.
