He might not have a choice given that Tarasenko hasn't played in about 2 years, wants out, and there is a flat cap. Something will have to give

Whats this fascination with a bought out parise at 3LW. Id much rather play one of the kids (bellows, golyshev, koivula, even mdc) over 67 year old parise. The only thing worse than him would be marleau who honestly looks older than my 87yo grandfather.

I mean the Lou connection is obvious and he has a fascination with his own guys, right or wrong. (He's proven to be right thus far though)

I think Parise could still pot 15-ish goals on that third line and PP minutes. Would be night and day compared to what we've been used to in that slot.

Yeah and then we end up with more bellows situations, but i get where youre coming from. I guess pray MIN doesnt buy him out.

I highly doubt Golyshev came to NY to be an extra F. Parise would be blocking him.

I want a Golyshev-Pageau-Wahlstrom 3rd line so bad, but say Eberle or Bailey get Expansion Drafted. Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to bring in a bargain bin Parise to fill a spot should Wahlstrom take Eberle or Bailey's old spots. As long as it's not Komarov.

it's funny that no one talks about golyshev , might be a good thing lol. Sometimes the hyped prospects never pan out - but Golyshev currently has the highest NHLer% and star% of any isles prospect.

I'm REALLY high on him. He's already shown he can produce in a pro league and his name has come up outside Islander circles. If he gets good minutes this year, I think he'll surprise a ton of people.

top 5 under 21 scorer in KHL history. He has so much upside. He's pretty much a gritty version of Panarin, not saying hell reach that level but that's the way he plays.

Ive never watched him play so i cant say anything but ide never really heard of him before the signing. When i was making cf teams and saw him, i thought he was 1 of those never-gonna-come-close-so-why-sign type of guys who stays in russia their whole career. Then i heard your stat and was like maybe but still unconvinced. So i hope youre right and he turns out to be a really solid player.

I've watched him play a few times a while ago, but I'm going off of multiple NHLE prospect models, the same ones that said Kucherov and Kaprizov should have been top 10 picks in their draft years (they went 5th + 2nd rd) . I'm not even going to project what Golyshev's ceiling is, but im pretty damn confident he's at least a 3rd liner who can put up 35-40 pts. He currently has a 92% NHLer % and a 54% star percentage.

Ill take 54% star percentage for a ****in 4th rounder lol. I guess ill start putting him in instead of mdc.

yeah, the rest of the forward prospect pool is awful. Koivula grades out well but Holmstrom has low odds of even making the NHL.

I happen to like holmstrom (though not at 23). I think he'll be a poor mans bailey. A 3rd liner at 35 points with a strong d game.

Also, there's zero chance that Parise gets bought out. A buyout would give Minnesota about $5MM cap relief this year, but the next three years his post buyout cap hit would be over $6MM. They'd save more cap space by burying him in the minors for those seasons.

I happen to like holmstrom (though not at 23). I think he'll be a poor mans bailey. A 3rd liner at 35 points with a strong d game.

I'm not sure why we passed on so many better prospects to reach for Holmstrom, but I still like the mold he'll fill. I think he'll rise to where Bailey is on a long enough timeline: the kind of guy who gets 35-40 assists every season and can move the puck well based on good decision making. Holmstrom's speed is what keeps me optimistic, he'll be a much better skater than Bailey.

I think holmstrom in his prime and jgp would be a match made in heaven but idk if jg will still be around lol.

I’m more excited by a Holmstrom-Iskhakov tandem. They’ll get to the NHL around the same timeline, both are fantastic skaters and both have scoring upside. Most teams never get depth pieces with this much speed.
