Detroit declines, we're in a rebuild and will not give up 4 assets to get 2.

Try to live a little.

Also what an odd take. The number of assets is more important than quality?

Yes it is. You have to ice more than one line in a game.

What quality by the way? Olofsson is older and has a lower ceiling than Veleno and Eichel is injured and has a very questionable future.

You want Detroit to give up their top pick (6OA) + their currently best defender + their currently best centre prospect + a decent winger for an aging winger and an injured centre with very questionable future?

Why are you surprised when you get a no?

Olofsson is 25 years old

Eichel does not have a questionable future.

Jeez man

Nope. That is already being used in another trade and he is not worth the 33rd pick of the draft

he's worth it. but the 2022 2nd would work too.

another team will likely offer more than a late 2nd.

I think the “questionable” part comes from a neck surgery that’s never be done on a hockey or high-impact professional athlete. There is a significant risk of any major surgery in the neck/back which is why it’s questionable.

I highly doubt that, especially before expansion

He's not getting the surgery. It's a mechanism to force a trade

He doesn’t need an elaborate surgery story to demand a trade. He can request a trade at anytime and competent FO’s typically move those players because it screws with the locker room or on ice performance (eg PLD).

He has no leverage otherwise. 5 years left and no NMC yet. Any team he doesnt want to play for he uses the surgery.

Even with Eichel having lower value right now, I don’t think that is enough to get both him and Olof. DET also has no business making this trade, rebuild.

a good 6'5" dman in his mid 20's dman with a decent contract, i dont doubt it. the only question is if it's worth it to the avs.

Both players & teams have leverage. It’s why guys waive their NMC to go somewhere. It’s why guys are shipped out when they request a trade. Saying otherwise is wishful thinking. Does a team really want a player that doesn’t want to be there? What does that say to their current players & potential FAs?

BUF should say no to the DET and ANA trades, and COL says no to Graves.

I can't see BUF wanting that for Eichel, I think they'd want more. But, from a value standpoint, it's not a bad offer (I've seen much worse). Hronek is still young and is probably a top 2 dman (pair him with Power or Dahlen to give you the left/right combo), the #6OA will give BUF another top talent (Eklund, Wallstedt). Veleno is a 3C all day.

Eichel is really good (top 3/4 C in the league), but the injury looms large, as does that cap hit, which is why his market keeps shrinking (surprising how many teams are actually short cap). Giving up a 25yr Olofsson (who would have been the leading scorer in DET last year) is the consolidation for the cap space and neck injury.

If I'm BUF, I start banging away at LAK. They've got a million C prospects that they could bundle together, and an early pick.

But what is Detroit getting a center that has spent the last better part of the last couple seasons whining about being sick of losing. I'm sorry but Eichel needs to pull up his big girl panties suck it up he signed the contract. Olofsson is only noticeable on the PP he just disappears in 5 on 5 play.
