Also Maple Leafs interest does not automatically mean he is being traded there. 1st it will cost at least a pick and a player, not named Engvall, Kerfoot, Dermott or Mikheyev.

2nd if all goes well this is a interdivisional trade, which rarely happens at the start of the year, for a RFA.

Yzerman isn't dealing his RFA rights, he'll be under contract probably in the 4 x $4,500,000 range and bring back a similar return that Mantha brought us.

I’m sure you know, but that means he is club controlled. UFA rights would be one thing, but RFA doesn’t lessen his value all that much.

Amirov is a good prospect, but Bertuzzi is already good in the NHL. We don’t know if Amirov is going to be good in the NHL or not. You would have to add more, or Reilly comes with an extension. And for the oilers trade, no thanks. Kerfoot is good, but he’s only a third liner. He’s not worth more than a third round pick.

He was good last year in the playoffs but in the end he's a 3C making decent money. Those guys most definitely do not get 1sts. There's a difference between teams prying him out of Toronto (would probably get a 2nd) and Toronto wanting to trade him to make room for other moves (likely drops value to a 3rd).

That’s not how rfa rights and trades work. He’s under complete team control and will sign there so you’re paying just as if you were trading a young player with a contract.
