Leafs have a lot of good options to strengthen their team in the offseason. Will be interesting to see what they do.

I am interested to see if Seattle takes Dermott or Kerfoot.

Thoughts?

Massive overpay. The leaf fan fascination with Bertuzzi is out of control.

1st , high prospect and a player who can play now is a very fare going rate for a guy like Bertuzzi. Solid player.

The payment has to be alot for a division rival to give up a player they have no interest in trading and that would make their team worse right now.

Not a divisional rival when Detroit won't be competing for a playoff spot still by the time Bert retires

Wouldn't call it massive but I agree. If the trade does happen, Red wings fans are in for a shock

for a 26 year old whose never broken 50 points, Bertuzzi sure is hella over rated round these parts.

Bertuzzi is half the player that Mantha is, Bertuzzi does not fit the Redwings compete time line, Bertuzzi does have an injury history. Leafs acquiring Bert makes sense at the right price both in assets and contract. Bertuzzi is not an "impact player" he's complimentary. His value is Dermott, Kerfoot and a 1st at most and only if the Leafs are confident they can lock him up for 2-3 years around the 3 million mark or long-term 5plus years around the 4.5 mark. Anything outside of that acquisition cost and contract extension Leafs are much better off signing either Hyman, Coleman, Hall, Goodrow, Bunting for dollars only

Wing fans are no different than any other fan base, they do overvalue their players based on we like him or because Detroit is so void of talent (not future talent but current NHL talent) there is a belief that Bertuzzi would put a divisional rival over the top. Even though if TO was to ice the same team as last year they leave Detroit toiling with Buffalo for bottom of the Atlantic

If it happens like that then maybe, maybe Toronto fans get the shock, don't know what Yzerman and Dubas are talking about

What rivalry?

No interest in trading? Yzerman is taking calls on him. Teams realize that Bertuzzi doesn’t fit the rebuild.

Spending twice what we received for Kapanen on a similar player is very poor asset management.

He fits the timeline Yzerman set perfectly, he wants to acquire players 26 and under. Bertuzzi is 26, might be 29 when we are a playoff team which is fine. Need veterans in the room, can't do it all with players under the age of 25.

You add one more decent pick/prospect and that’s a close package for a star player. Bert isn’t a star, he’s a really good player with some injury concerns, but that’s definitely an overpayment. Amirov is still developing, but his potential could be equal to or near Panarin.

What a bullsh*t narrative; just stop. Elliotte Freidman said your GM was interested in Bertuzzi. No one said Yzerman was shopping him.

Panarin? Are f*cking serious? Okay then I can't wait for joe veleno to turn into Wayne Gretzky. And they say Toronto fans value their prospects too much

Yeah I read that. And then he proceeded to say they should trade us Ghost for Bertuzzi. So then I went and hit myself with a hammer for five minutes.

Kappy trade would be a good reference and a trade that was thought to be a ridiculous overpay.

I wouldn’t expect a Red Wing fan to understand what the word “potential” means.
