With Parise, Melnyk saves real cash compared to what Parise's cap hit is, which really only works of they immediately buy him out so he's free to sign somewhere else to chase a Cup. Doubt he'd waive his NMC to go to Ottawa if they're not competing in the next year or 2.

Dude Zach Parise isn't waiving his NMC from his homestate of Minnesota to Ottawa. First off he doesn't want to play in Canada he's already stated that numerous times and right now Ottawa is still the worst Canadian team in Canada there's no freaking way.

What you guys are missing is that Parise just wants to be bought out, if he stays in MN it will be a limited role, 3rd line where he clearly isn't happy. From Parise's perspective, he want to make money and 1 mill a year isn't it.
