That VAN trade is something else - essentially Boeser for a 4th and Nylander..??

It's 1 year - they can re-sign their RFAs with it. Connolly w/ 2 years left is going the other way so it just about cancels out (I personally like Connolly but he's not worth his contract).

But will VAN be able to resign Boser after this season after they pay out the RFA class of 2021?

Yes - but even if the answer was no, it wouldn't be because of Eriksson contract, it would be because of Connolly extra year and cap hit lol

If you want BB you might try giving up something of actual value. A 1 year cap dump isn't gunna get you a legit top 6 player.

The CBJ deal is also a hot mess. I do think Strome+Mitchell+1st is a good basis to work around though

They have to pay Rathbone next year also. All this is assuming clearing around 7 mil of cap space will be enough to pay studs in VAN who are up for renewal this offseason.

And they'll have Eriksson, Holtby, Virtanen, Roussell, Motte, Beagle all coming off which comes out to 15m if not more I believe. Plus Loungo recapture will be over for another few million. Plenty of money to re-sign their RFAs this year and next year. The original trade is awful and you can easily look all of this information up.

Next year Vancouver loses Eriksson's $6M, Beagle's $3M, Roussel's $3M, Luogo's $3M and Holtby's $4.3M. That's $19.3M....probably enough to sign Rathbone and a back up goalie.
