Hawks decline. They can easily afford connolys cap hit. No need to pay Mitchell to get rid of him.

The idea was Mitchell for Boqvist...with Devils adding a bit (around a 3rd)
Was either going to propose as a pick from NJD or taking salary from Chicago.

I should have stated...this was under assumption Hawks get Seth Jones.
    Would not have asked otherwise.

i'm of the belief that Mitchell would be in the package for jones. Also, doubtful we land jones in the next 30 hours

agreed and even if we did without giving up Mitchell it makes no sense to trade him for J boquist

    @Wadejos123 @ChiHawk @Stan_Bowman

So what would be the add to a Mitchell for Boqvist swap (if not salary move)?

Pick from Devils? Player? Retention on another deal?

no. Butcher has struggled and he is exactly the type of defenseman the Bruins don't need

there's just no trade around those two that makes sense. We have a ton of boqvist level forwards already. Young, skilled, underperforming 3rd liner types. Right D is much more valuable and more of a need for us. Only way mitchell trade makes sense for the hawks is if its for a RD upgrade

He was hurt to begin season and Ty Smith Wally-Pipp'ed him
    Still performed fine.
    Still produces offense on PP.

Quite simply the trade doesn’t work out well.

Got it...for some reason I thought Mitchell was on the move.
And saw in previous ACGM that Hawks liked Boqvist to Chicago for 2nd pick.
So, I kinda just mashed those two thoughts together.

    Will keep looking. Thanks guys.

But he is yet another undersized dman who struggles in his own zone. Something that has plagued the Bruins in the playoffs since 2018. Now without Kevan Miller, the Bruins may need two steady and big defenseman.

Interesting. Like of a like-for-like, no?

Puts Boqvists together and Kurashev with (does he have any siblings?) fellow countrymen.

    Ah, gotcha. Join the club.

I thought b’s wanted LHD pp qb type. Hence, Butcher.
    You guys need a Werenski.

The Blackhawks have 3 RHD prospects they are developing; Boqvist, Mitchell and Regula in that order of value. If the hawks were to get Jones or Hamilton as the top line RHD, then in theory that makes Mitchell disposable as good trade value as it would be Jones/Hamilton, Boqvist, Regula for the future. However, if the Hawks don't bring in a top line RHD then Mitchell is very unlikely to be going anywhere. He was a 2nd round draft pick, became one of the top defensive prospects out of the NCAA following his draft two years in a row, struggled a bit as a rookie but is highly prized as a future #3 or #4 defensive player.

All that said, the Hawks have incredible depth at the forward for center and wingers outside of the top 6. Jesper, at this point is a 3rd line winger. Hawks are going to have to trade and or not re-sign some of their 3rd line wingers because of the depth they have at that position. If Jesper was a bonafide top 6 winger or at least bonafide future top 6 winger, maybe there is a trade but to me at least, I'm not sure Jesper will be more then a 3rd line winger. Similar situation we have with Alex Nylander and Philip Kurashev, Brandon Hagel, Vinnie Hinostroza, Lucas Reichel, etc.....you get the point. smile
