I think you are sorely underestimating how good Bratt is.

Sure, Leafs maybe able to get a draft pick, but moving an almost $11 million deal isn't gonna fetch market value.

Tale of that tape will be the Eichel deal the Sabres can't make.

A reasonable Marner-to-NJ trade.

I think you are sorely underestimating how good the guy who just finished 4th in league scoring is. Imagine trading him for a pair of 30pt wingers with nothing else coming back then talking about cap space when there is NOTHING left in free agency

Bratt could be a piece in a Marner deal. but it would take Holtz, Ty Smith and a 1st as well

He has been between 30-35pts all four years. Marner has a 94pt season and just finished 4th in league scoring with a 100pt full season pace.
you dont get a superstar for a "good" player and a 3rd line winger

I'm not sure Bratt is that good, and by signing Reilly, the Leafs are weak in other positions.
I'm not the big fan of Reilly, but it sure looks like he is going to be overpaid by some one, just don't want my team to do it.

The Coyotes have been stocking up on 2nds, and I assure you it's not so they can go out and get Alex Kerfoot with one of them.

He is very, very good.
Had a late start last year with visa/quarantine
Had late start two years ago with broken jaw.
Had good streaks both years.
Possession stats are fantastic, needs to shoot a bit more.

Major break-out candidate

An undersized winger grossly overpaid that vanishes in the playoffs > A player that can't compete when things get tight and tough

Could be any team really. We can debate how successful the Yotes will be in the UFA market, hence Kerfoot and a pick for the pick.

Bratt for me projects to be a PPG guy. Not Marber no, but a far more affordable compliment to the 1st line.

As for Reilly, I agree he should be moved, but the way this is setting up he is gone for nothing.

I chose poison #1 here.

I am just gonna disagree.

Great playmaking abiliy. As pointed out, excellent possesion numbers on a mediocre team. Same age. Smaller contract. Should be a PPG guy ......

Everyone is looking at Bratt, but the sum is bigger than the parts.

Bratt is going to be more than a "good" player. Shades on Elias I see.

Moving Marner means you are NOT getting back a player that can donthe same things.

Bratt is the same age as Marner and has barely had one season that matched Marners worst season. He has one season with excellent possession numbers, as opposed to Marner having good poessession numbers every year but once. Bratt is also given more offensive zone starts than Marner.
Marner IS a ppg+ guy, and of course Bratt has a smaller contract, he isnt nearly as good.

Never said he was.

Point is Leafs will never get a player "like" Marner in a deal. Just like the Sabres won't get a player just like Eichel in a deal.

People in various illustrations have shown the short comings of Marner in various posts. He isn't a franchise player, but he is paid like one.

Bratt's game is similar to that of Marner (more the playmaker), so the chemistry works with Matthews imo. Advanced stats on Bratt are subjective. Devils aren't exactly world beaters..... yet. And, to my recollection, has yet to play steady minutes with either Hirscher or Hughes..... Devils fans feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Bratt will be a 70-80 point guy..... just because he isn't there yet doesn't mean he won't be.

so you cant get a similar player so you get a much worse one for him? Where is the logic there? Bratt isnt like marner at all, he's a 30 point 2nd liner with middling defensive impacts. He wouldnt have chemistry with matthews, if anything he'd have to be carried by him.
and suddenly advanced stats are subjective? Dude, you used em to champion a guy and suddenly when they dont line up with that they are subjective?
Bratt has never even been a 40-50 guy, and if he can become that then Marner can become a 150-170 guy
