I'd say it's definitely somewhat close to fair value for Matthews alone, it just doesn't make any sense for us because of our weak center depth

Not sure how this "fills holes" for the Leafs.
Is Gibson now that much better than Mrzarek. Manson isn't special. How good will Zebras this season compared to Matthews? So the Leafs get Rakell.
Of course the Ducks might feel 7 years of Zegras isn't that much better than three years of Matthews, especially for a rebuilding team.

Nothing here is remotely close to Matthews level. Matthews is a top 3 player in the game. Zegras isn't ever going to be remotely as good. Manson sucks, Rackell doesn't matter and Gibson isn't enough to tip the scales.

Wheres the rest of the trade

None of it matters. Matthews is worth more than the Ducks have to offer.

I'm not citing this exact trade but if Matthews even hints at exploring free agency, (which I 100% think he is because you don't request a contract to 1st year of UFA if you don't intend to explore it) then it might be in the best interest of the Leafs to trade him. Especially if they don't get the results they want this year.

no way the leafs trade matthews and dont get someone like matthews in return, its a lot of value but its not thr right value, you know what i mean?
