Copp should've been traded for a dman instead of wasting picks on Schmidt and Dillon.

I’m curious which top 4 d was available for Copp? Thoughts on who Chevy should have acquired?

You don't have to replace Beaulieu and Statsny can be filled with Perfetti (ELC) in 22-23

That’s still a contract with costs associated so you have to replace those bodies.

I know and I have accounted for that ($13,64M off from Stastny, Beaulieu, Dubois, Copp, and add $12.788 with Dubois, Copp, Perfetti, Heinola) . Bottom line is if Copp repeats his performance this year then he will have priced himself out of Winnipeg and the Jets will use him as an own rental unless they are out of playoff contention.

That’s what I said in post 21. You didn’t account for two minimum salaries as you said 5M for Statsny (3.75) + Beaulieu (1.25) in post 23. You’re also contradicting yourself here because in post 23 you claimed he’d take a 4.5M contract if he had a good season but in this post you couldn’t afford him. Like I said if he has another good season look to Coleman has a baseline.

My point for all of this was that he was not going to be traded and be used as an own rental in post #15. Have a good evening.

Could maybe of been dealt to Seattle for one of the dmen they selected.

He said he wanted a 4-5 year deal in his media availability. Unless you think he is lying, it sounds like he wants to be in Winnipeg.

When and where did Copp say this?

that is the exact reason why Copp will b traded this season Jets will need to recoup something for him not going to let hi walk into free agency IMHO

It's also the reason his trade value nose dived.

He is now considered a rental and you will get a return that merits the fact that he can walk away from any team that trades for him.

Detroit will not offer you Rasmussen for him in any case and we will want his signature on an extension before we'll make an offer.

Not sure that was a realistic option. Gio makes too much; Larsson and Jaime just signed multiyear deals, so that rules out the top 3 options.

Dunn is getting paid a fair bit for a 4/5 dman with potential coming off a down season.

Who else would actually improve the Jets d-core from Seattle?

Soucy is the same style and size of a dman as Dillon but $1.15M cheaper, 4 years younger and has a year less of term, he'd be a fine partner for Pionk, they were also teammates at Duluth.

The Jets have plenty of internal options to replace Copp and really they could park almost anyone next to Lowry to go kill time and it'd work. I don't see Copp as some irreplaceable part, also highly doubt he'll ever come close to the season he just had.
