We are giving up Bokk + Suzuki + Nikishin + 2nd + 3rd?

Did his injuries disappear?

I’d rather just take on his full cap hit than give up all of that

I figure there are 4-5 better prospects around the same age in the Canes system on offense and Nikishin was just a throw in that could be removed. Having Buffalo retain half means no other forwards have to be moved to make the cap work

That’s way too much to give up for an unproven Tara at this point. A lot of risk in whether he’ll be healthy and effective after his shoulder injury and surgeries. Also, no forwards need to be moved out and retention really isn’t necessary to make a deal work.

Keep Sanford throw in a 2nd - Buffalo is going younger-infant even

Bokk and Suzuki are in our top 5 prospects in my opinion, so including both in a trade for a player with as many question marks as Tarasenko is a no-go in my opinion.

We also don't need a half retention to keep everyone I think we would only need 1.5-2 million retained depending on Svech contract

If you drop Suzuki, Bokk and the 2nd, this is STILL too much for someone that has played less games in the last 2 seasons than Nino Niederreiter had goals last year... why would Carolina throw the farm up for an LTIR staple? I would have been more receptive if it was less than this, but MY WORD this is bad. Tarasenko isn't what he used to be, he's injury prone and he's on the wrong side of 30. If Carolina make Nikishin in this package Jarvis and the 3rd a 1st and turned around to Buffalo, they're probably getting Eichel without many complaints... yes he is another injury riddled player that I am also against acquiring but not the point. Where was I going with this?

And if Gardiner is on LTIR which seems likely there’s even less need for retention. Unless they’re planning on getting two top 9 Fs they really don’t need much in the way of retention
