Last Hurrah for 33

Created by: Habhater
Team: 2021-22 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 19, 2021
Published: Aug. 19, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Would love to see the Bruins correct a wrong and bring back Z for his last hurrah. A story book ending to a great career and a publicity success for the B's. Really don't need to trade wags or Moore but to any team for a late pick is ok for me. Ok - bring on the critics once again. Can never see to get anything right per those critics.

Sorry, yes 33, my bad. I believe the B's were wrong in not signing Chara last year. Sure he is old and slow, but still useful. I think we all thought that we could have used him the playoffs last year - besides for the low aav he is worth the risk for what he does and what he can being to the room. The B's should not throw him out with the trash like they did with Orr who, although a Bruin-to-the-core, retired as a Blackhawk.

You realize that Boston offered him more money than WSH right? They offered him a contract and just asked him to take on a lesser role so he wouldn't wear down over the season (like he did in WSH). Chara decided not to come back and funny enough in WSH played almost the exact role Boston wanted him to play. The Bruins didn't "throw him out with the trash" as you put it, they worked very hard to find a solution that worked for what the team needed and what Chara wanted.

Again there is no "wrong" that the Bruins need to right.

It was Chara's final gift to Boston. Make Bjork seem appealing to Buffalo.

The thing you are failing to acknowledge is the Bruins were onto their 9th dman before they could have used him. Also - it would not have changed the Isles series one bit. Series changed when Carlo went down and Barzal was opened up.

Chara hasn't been good against smaller, faster/shifty players in a decade. Literally the only team Chara would be effective against is Washington because they aren't very fast, but they are huge. Chara is good against those types of players.

Can you imagine what Point would have done to him. Jake Debrusk scored 2 playoff goals. Both with Z on the ice. Jake Debrusk.

Letting Chara go was not a wrong…and he chose to go.

I read that he may be finalizing a deal with Florida. As much as I'd like to see him retire a Bruin, it may never happen. Unless he signs next year and promptly retires, then takes on a role in the organization. Or maybe he goes back to Slovakia. Hope he invested his 90 million wisely!!

Bringing back chara is a HUGE mistake. He is not worth it at all, even if he brings leadership/mentorship but thats abut all he provides. Hes a washed NHLer, no point wasting a roster spot on him
