Couple moves to add picks

Created by: Lancebmx
Team: 2021-22 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 19, 2021
Published: Aug. 20, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trying to utilize the cap space to add a few picks to either draft, trade up in the draft or trade to upgrade roster players.
All these trades could easily not happen depending on the moves each team wants to make.

Komarov buyout part of him waiving clause for trade.

Trades
1.
DET
  1. Connolly, Brett
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (TBL)
CHI
I don't think the Blackhawks necessarily need to make this move yet. If they want to add at the deadline they likely move him.
    2.
    DET
    1. Koskinen, Mikko
    2. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
    Additional Details:
Oilers need some cap space to sign Yamamoto. Goalie swap with retention saves them 2.7M this season. That should be enough to sign Yams.
    3.
    DET
    1. Hickey, Thomas
    2. Komarov, Leo
    3. 2022 2nd round pick (COL)
    4. 2023 2nd round pick (NYI)
    NYI
    1. 2022 4th round pick (COL)
    Additional Details:
This only happens if they go after another high salary player this year, like Tarasenko. They have no reason to make it otherwise.

Oilers have plenty enough to sign Yamamoto. Wouldn’t give up a second to get one year of Greiss. Make it Cossa and you have a deal.

Even if we did have to move cap out for a guy like tarasenko that's too expensive. It should be 1 2nd not 2.

Oddly enough yams can be signed to an 874,125$ QO as he has no arbitration rights much like Jost recently and I don't see it Kailer being too angry at that

It feels like people here are addicted to being contentious, this AGM is really neat and good and reasonable, exactly how DET should finish the summer

We would have to pay to get Yams, in this simulation Detroit gains an asset. It's more using 2.7M cap space to gain a second round pick, instead of paying a second plus more to acquire Yamamoto.

Pretty spot on for the ratinale of the hawks making that move, but I don't think it costs us a 2nd. We got a 2nd, and a late tampa 2nd at that, for the 5x3 johnson dump, so i'm thinking connely's 3.5x2 would be about a 3rd

Ya but a 22 year old with his upside really fits the rebuild that’s a guy worth taking a shot at if the mindset is taking advantage of a cap strapped team. Difference between him and the pick receiving is he’s shown ability at nhl level.

I think that a third is very far off for connolly. Johnson is actually a useful player. Connolly isn't making most nhl rosters anymore. Also I think Chicago took a low return for Johnson.
This was the wrong quote somehow

Edmonton is going to squeeze Yamamoto for 2 x 1.5 million. He has no arbitration its how things work in the cap system. He gets paid in 2 years when he is arbitration eligible.

I also didn't realize they are over the roster limit so sending guys down will make room.
