This point I want dubas to tell us if he's going to shop him extend him or keep him. 2/3 options stop seeing Rielly in every acgm

But likely he'll get 8ish long term. So the rags would be paying 16ish for him and Trouba - man that would be hilarious to watch unfold.

Why do you think the Rangers extend him? Rangers would not the cap especially if you want to retain Fox, and have have 1C and 2C in 22/23.

Our top-four would be $17 million

Lindgren Fox
Rielly Trouba

Slightly less than Toronto's current top-four.

The Sharks have a $29 million top-four. The Devils have a $25 million top-four. As do the Wild. The Canucks, $23 million.

It would be fun to watch Drury try to resign Fox, Rielly, Zibanejad, Kaako, Kravtsov, and Strome with 28M

Then resign Lafreinere next offseason

We could fit two top centres in, sign Fox to bridge deal and re-sign Rielly

Fox won't sign a contract that hurts team. He choose to be here and he will sign a team-friendly deal.

We have plenty of space. And if not, plenty of good pieces that are easy to move.

How'd you get to $17M?

Fox 8-9M (that's conservative, he could get up to 10M easily)
Trouba 8M
Rielly 8M
Lindgren 3M

That's 27M on the light side. Are you only looking at the first year? My post stated long-term.

Yes, I'm sure the player will not cash in at his first opportunity to do so. If he gets hurt what happens? Players taking team friendly deals rarely happens and when it does its guys who've made their money already. Not guys coming off of ELCs.

He's going to cash in long term after this season. He's getting minimum 8M

Also - don't you want to learn from those teams mistakes? They have guys like Burns, Karlsson, PK, Myers, OEL, etc. on their rosters - none of those contracts have aged well and all of those teams have been struggling or in a rebuild for multiple years now..I don't think you're making the point you want to make here.

For 2021-22, it would be around $17 million.

For 2022-23, say Fox gets a $4 million raise on a bridge deal and Rielly gets $2 million raise on extension. That would be around $23-24 million for one of the better top-4's in the league.

Fox $5-6m (team friendly bridge deal)
Trouba $8m
Rielly $7-8m (extension)
Lindgren $3m

He will sign team-friendly deal. Remember he chose to play for Rangers, he is not going to sign a contract that its harmful to team.

I was pointing out the teams that come to mind when I think 'over-priced' top-four.

The high end is still above where we are or will be....and our defense will be good (unlike those other teams).

You’re going to be sorely disappointed when those guys don’t both take the friendly, cheap deals you’re assuming they will. Heiskanen and Makar set the market for Fox and he could easily ask for more than what they got. He’s not going to forgo a pay day bc the team asks him too. As the best d on his own team he shouldn’t be making half of what trouba or rielly make either. This just screams delusional.

Trouba and rielly making a combined 16m will be a version of burns and karlsson in 3-4 years. You’ve gotta take the rose colored glasses off man. Trust me I’m all for the rags doing this as I’m not a fan and I think it’ll blow up in their faces. From an unbiased outsiders perspective, giving rielly his big deal won’t age well and a kid coming off an ELC is going to cash in (and deservedly so). Sure he might take 500k less than he otherwise would have. But he’s not taking 4m when he could get 9-10.

Well then he's an idiot. He wanted to come to the Rangers that doesn't mean he doesn't want to be paid his worth. Plus the team still has to pay like 5 other rfas in the next two years and already has 2 guys making 8+

They all have Cs next year, we wouldn't, that's why this makes zero sense.
Fox taking a discount means 5x8.4m - 6x8.7m instead of raping us considering he's the best D in the league, hasn't even learned the ropes yet and extra 1-2m "cause it's NY" cap hit
