Eichel should have been traded by now

Created by: Kyle_Davidson
Team: 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 24, 2021
Published: Aug. 24, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think Jack Eichel should have been traded by this point and it’s more and it’s likely that the Sabers have overplayed their hands in the trade talks. Even if he were traded today, and the team that acquired him felt safe with the surgery he wants, he’s probably out for the first couple of months of the season. The sabers are looking for a combination of young NHL ready/proven players, top prospects, and a first round pick for Eichel. I can’t see what team is in a position to take on his full cap and give up the assets Buffalo wants for a player who is likely to be out for some time.

We all know the saying about how you can’t make the playoffs in the first month, but you can miss them. (Or something like that). At this point I would temper my expectations on an Eichel trade for whoever eventually acquires him.
Trades
CHI
  1. Eichel, Jack
Additional Details:
Strome and Kurashev are young NHL proven players.

Reichel and Mitchell are top prospects

And while they have to wait a year for the first they also get another pick this year.

Connolly is a cap dump.
BUF
  1. Connolly, Brett
  2. Kurashev, Philipp
  3. Mitchell, Ian
  4. Reichel, Lukas
  5. Strome, Dylan
  6. 2022 3rd round pick (EDM)
  7. 2023 1st round pick (CHI)

So...yeah I mean I hear ya. On the other hand remember Duchene and COL? Maybe Eichel AND the Sabres should just let him sit out for the year. Get Shane Wright and allow those prospects time to develop. This way in 2-3 years BUF will have elite talent.

Eichel won’t like that.

I don't see these working for the Hawks. Toews, Kane, Jones and Eichel will be making over 40m next year. Isn't it kinda lunacy spending 40m on four players? (coming from a Leaf fan)

There's just no way the hawks can realistically swing an eichel trade with Toews still in the fold. Just don't work with the salary cap

Now they will probably accept a crap offer because of the teams incompetence.

He'll be moved before next off-season or Adams should be fired on the spot. Eichel's NMC kicks in next year and when that happens his value will plummet. Buffalo will absolutely move him before that even has a chance of happening

The soonest Eichel will be traded is at the TDL but next off-season is more likely - there is also a good chance he is just not traded at all- Adams won't be fired this is exactly what Pegula wants - want a trade and keep your mouth closed in public Reinhart and Risto traded - want a trade and shoot your mouth off well it could take a long long time.

There is only pain if you listen to the "insiders" who throw out 30 trades a week as click bait

If you want them or expect them to wait till next off-season to trade him, you'd be lucky to get back the same return that they got for Reinhart. His value will plummet as of July 1, 2022 whether you like it or not - or whether you're willing to admit it or not. At that point, as an owner if you're going to asses your GM and how he handled the situation, you want him to get the most return possible - which he wouldn't at that point. You then question his ability to handle things under pressure and see that he's not able to do it, so you fire him. Unless you want 10 more seasons of no playoffs?

Oh and check your facts next time. Eichel has never formally asked for a trade - his voiced his displeasure with how management was handling his health. The media took it and ran with the trade scenarios. Then management says they're not happy with the situation either. So both the team and the player are at fault here. To whine and complain that you think he should have "shut his mouth" is complete BS because your management staff has done the exact same thing.

It's clear that Eichel doesn't want to play in Buffalo and it's clear that Buffalo likely doesn't want the negative energy around him right now back around the team - management has had their chances to fix that and they haven't. A trade seems like the only logically solution. & the longer you wait, the less the return is.

Have fun losing for 10 more seasons with your way of thinking though! Someone has to finish last every year 🤷🏻‍♂️

You sound angry- and if Eichel never requested a trade why should we trade him?

The player is clearly unhappy with how the team is run, directly from ownership down, and the team is highly unhappy with how the player has handled the situation. Sometimes a split is beneficial to both sides - just like a divorce.

But please, show me one link where Eichel directly stated he asked for a trade. Cause this isn't a factual one out there.

Again if there is no request for a trade then why should we trade him? especially for a low-ball deal? Jack can heal up all the dings and come back for the 2022-2023 season.
