D you guys have a magical tree that money just grows out of your arse? Where in the hell are you getting 14.7 mil from? The bigger question is why are you paying a guy whose highest production in a year has been 66 points the highest contract ever awarded in hockey?

While Gallagher is one of my favorite non-Devils, I don’t think this fits for New Jersey’s timeline.

Perhaps Boqvist or Kuokkanen for (less than Gallagher)

an even better questions is do you know the difference between the calculation used on an offsheet to determine pick compensation and the annual cap hit of the contract thats shown above....

The AAV is 14.7 not the cap hit.

VAN matches. NJ declines. Gallagher's good, but that albatross contract will keep him a Hab for foreseeable future.

Anywhere from 5-7M on a bridge deal

They have 17M in cap space without Pettersson and Hughes signed

Offersheet Pettersson 10.5, they can match and offer Hughes 6.5M

It would have to be a 11.5+ for the Canucks to consider not matching

You put him with Hughes or Hischier he'll give you his money worth and more for at least the next 3 yrs.

lol so you noticed you made an irrelevant point so now we are all idiots...seems logical
If you wanna go look through literally all my comments on these offersheets are that they are pointless and will be matched sorry if pointing out your mistake left you butthurt lol. maybe learn how offersheets work and then come back with your input.

But the 3 years are going to hurt

The Devils could just put Holtz or Mercer next to Hughes instead.

It's not guaranteed he'll accept a bridge. He should be asking for Heiskanen type contract right off the bat.

sigh..... did you not learn your lesson with CAR?

    A) who says EP signs the offersheet?
    B) His agent (who is the same as Hughes) would advise him against it. it would literally be taking money from Hughes' deal to pay Pettersson. not a good look and a great way to get fired.
    C) VAN matches
D VAN retaliates, Suzuki is up next year and Caufield the year after.... you can bet either or both would get offersheets

I'm down for offersheets flying every where. But obviously I'll try to sign them before their contracts expire. Petterson should fire his agent and get a new one lol

well sure it'd be cool, but MTL can't even do this, they don't have the cap space to even tender this. at BEST (with Byron and Weber on LTIR) MTL would only have about 7(ish) million in cap space

A possible lottery pick and a good prospect for Gally? I dont think so. that contract will be an anchor in a few years, they would be better off just signing someone like Palmieri, or even Zajac, and keep the young assets.

Whatever is left like 6ish. Pettersson and Hughes are represented by the same people so Hughes can blame his agent that he's not getting more

Lmao nothing funnier than mtl offersheeting a guy they can’t afford then immidietly dumping one of their best players (who has a full NMC) just so they can fit the offer sheet under the salary cap. Not to mention, the Offersheet is easily matched anyways!
