I'm not saying this is a typical leafs fan post but I'll leave this right here.

abramov is a very solid prospect but go off, wood is a third liner

Abramov is a medicore prospect. Wood is arguably a decent 2nd liner/high-end third liner. I think the return is CLOSE, but you'd have to sweeten just a bit in terms of value. That said, I don't see the Devils moving him.

why not? devils are gonna be mediocre this year and wood likely is on the fourth line by next year with their wingers coming up

I wouldn't underestimate the devils. They made some savvy moves and if they stay healthy, having Hischier back and if Hughes takes a step forward, the addition of Hamilton and Graves, they won't be a push over. Most of the teams in the Metro all took steps backwards. I'm not saying they're a playoff lock, but they'll be inching in.
Also, Woods is still young. There's no reason to think the Devils wouldn't want to keep him to grow with the club.
Coleman is no doubt a high end 2nd liner, starts 65-75% of his shifts in the dzone and still produces. thats insane to me
The biggest difference between the two is definitely Coleman's defensive game. But he was a 3rd liner. The guy produced the same whether he played on the 1st line or the 4th and Wood is the same way.
They're both players who can create their own offense mainly with their speed. They're also tough with a bit of grit, like to get in opposing star player's faces and sometimes take bad penalties.
I just think it's going to take a lot to take Wood of the Jersey, like it was with Coleman. I do actually think that Wood would be a great addition to the Leafs, but the Devils could really use him just as badly.

You see this a lot on ACGM with a lot of teams but I will admit that we leafs fans are guilty of this a lot. “Hey can we pawn off our disposable players for your valuable players?”

Agree with that last point, i think a wood-matthews-marner line would be really good

He’s an impact player in the bottom 6 with team control. He is able to break games open with his speed/tenacity on the puck and can play a couple of games up the lineup if needed. That type of player doesn’t grow on trees and NJ doesn’t have many like him, especially after losing Bastian in the expansion draft. They have no use trading him for a late 2nd and mediocre prospects

They could surprise in their division, both them and the Rangers. I wouldn't be surprised if both made it over Washington or Pittsburgh.

Not even bad players. Don't make sense for either team. We need to hold onto prospects because if one or more hits that can help out cap situation.
NJ don't do it because they're trying to compete (even tho I think they will flip this year but be good next year)
