yes, that much worse team that would be fighting for a wildcard spot on it's best day is totally the solution

that'd be a great trade for the sharks because they could turn around and flip muzzin for twice that

If we retained, not sure we have cap space to do so unless everyone else gets unloaded

Nah, Muzzin is still very good and by far the Leafs best defender. Retaining would get you a pretty penny, but he's worth so much more than that terrible value in the agm.

The point was to kinda mix up the roster and build off something new

Vancouver wants to know how many 1st round picks you're adding to your offer. Marner at a $10M cap hit isn't worth Boeser, Garland and 2 2nd round picks.

Still not worth Boeser, Garland and 2 2nd's. If all of Toronto's expensive top 20 players can't get them past the 1st round how much are they really worth? In my opinion Marner is over paid by about $2.5M. He might be worth Boeser and a 2nd but I'd rather have Boeser, he has a more complete game.

If the Sharks could do that why wouldn't Toronto just trade him to that team and get more picks for themselves?

Why would Toronto trade for Boeser to add to the first line? They don't need to snipers on one line.

Also, why would Toronto trade Muzzin, who has been their best defenseman?

I don't think teams want to take on your bloated contracts. They probably just tell you to suffer in your jocks. The good news is that in 3 seasons Matthews likely walks and creates some cap space for you to build a team with depth.
