                      TOR
Over the next two years, we'll be pushing to make the playoffs.

And maybe get lucky in the first round like Montreal last season

Against a team that is built for the regular season instead of the playoffs.

Either way, Connor Brown is going to be a part of it.

And we're going to reward him for it once it's all set in done

Like we did in October, 22nd 2020

It's going to be a beautiful thing.

I look forward to watching it with you :D

I do love it when a fan of a team whose only cup winning goal ever is an own goal tries to talk success smack

I do love it when a fan of a team whose only destiny nowadays is a first round exit tries to talk success smack.

Also, that own goal was from over a decade ago and nobody remembers it except you.

I do love it when a fan of a team whose only destiny nowadays is a first round exit tries to talk success smack.

Also, that own goal was from over a decade ago and nobody remembers it except you.

Lol, you just tried to burn me by saying no one remembers your own teams cup run. fantastic stuff

And that hasn't happened during his time in Ottawa.

                        So ... crickets.

so you agree, no one cares enough about your own team to remember their best season ever.

People only care about the answer to this question:

"What have you done for me lately?"

People remember and care for the Ottawa Senators because they've improved from the previous season.

Lots of people remember and care for the wealthiest team in the league after they make the playoffs.

Just not for the right reasons.

                        You would know.

interesting concept... love reading these things over other things
Brown on MTL would be cool imo but like you said it would take a lot...

nah, people care about the leafs because they're the wealthiest team in the league with the biggest fanbase and are currently one of the better and most exciting teams in the league and even sens fans care about the leafs more than they do their own team, hating the leafs is literally their primary identity. The Leafs are sort of exciting when they make the playoffs.

They certainly have a decent performance in the regular season.

Until the last game of the first round ends and then reality kicks in.

Why would I hate the Leafs when that happens?

If anything, I'd feel sorry you.

Barron is a non starter for COL. Good break down on the comparison though. However TBL willing over paid for a low contract because they were so tight against the cap and were definitely a cup favorite. I don’t know that you can expect teams to pay that premium if they have cap space like COL is projected to have over $4M cap space at the deadline. Really good post though.

I love Connor Brown so I’m just here for the CBrown appreciation post

Don’t know if many teams would meet the price but if a teams desperate like Tampa I could see a similar trade (deep pick but a deep draft (this year) like #20-32, and a solid prospect). Either way I’d rather see Brown stay in Ottawa, he’s quite useful and would be a hard piece to replace.

Poulin and a 1st would not happen. Poulin is a top 100 prospect in NHL, close to NHL ready. 6’3, 210 pound Power forward.

Connor Brown isn’t the same two-way, gritty player like Coleman. Not even close.

He’s a complimentary winger, that isn’t elite at anything. Doesn’t even play a good two-way game. Doesn’t “hit” a lot, isn’t a top PP threat.

A nice winger. On a good not great contract.

He’s a complimentary winger, that isn’t elite at anything. Doesn’t even play a good two-way game. Doesn’t “hit” a lot, isn’t a top PP threat.

A nice winger. On a good not great contract.

Is Coleman elite for not receiving any votes for the Selke Trophy?

Would Olausson be a non-starter for Colorado as well?

Right now probably, he has looked fantastic in the preseason. At the trade dead line that might be a different story. Right now COL has to work through who is going to be their bottom 6 and they have a lot of guys that are really pushing for spots in Ranta and Bowers, a guy they targeted in the Graves trade in Maltsev, a guy they just gave a 3yr extension to in LOC, Newhook needs to play with the Avs this year, they signed Helm as UFA, and still have guys like Jost and Compher. That’s 8 guys not counting Nichushkin who has been playing 2LW, and Kaut. Guys like Olausson are even more valuable to them because they are cost controlled. All that being said I do think Sakic is going to do more than just add meh depth guys like Soderberg and Nemeth this year.
