Zach bolduc was a 2021 first round pick which buffalo might be interested in
Klim kostin was a 2018 or 2019 first round pick that could be a decent 2nd line or 3rd line player since buffalo isn’t the best
VT was almost a superstar, still could be, comes down to if buffalo takes that chance
1st round pick might end up being around 16-22 cause blues prob won’t get far in playoffs
2nd round pick is honestly anywhere between 30-60 so who knows

Good on Eichel. We have a really solid team and a ton of center depth already. We're going to need money to resign all our young star players in a couple years. Not comfy with Eichels injury or when he'd return. Bolduc and Kostin seem like they'll pan out to be solid NHL players, we need to start stocking the farm system a bit more. And there's some interesting players who may hit free agency this next couple seasons. Also not sure if this even gets it done, price is stupid high and Vladi definitely would not waive to go to Buffalo lol

What we really need to do is find a way to move Krug I think and pick up a big top pairing shut down D man to play with Parayko and bring Scotty P up to do Krugs job cheaper. Maybe move Scandella too lol I'm fine with Walman and/or Mikkola playing 3rd pairing. This is possible off-season stuff or if it seems like we're gonna miss the playoffs.

Probably and overpay for Eichel. And I’m a huge Eichel fan. A legit #1C.

But Buffalo has little leverage now that the players union is involved. And any team Eichel agrees to be traded to has to let him get the disc replacement surgery he wants. Which puts him on the self for this whole season. You won’t see him until 22-23 season; at best, if everything goes well.

That’s the issue. He insisting he wants the surgery. Buffalo’s doctors say he doesn’t need it and don’t recommend it. Eichel doenst think they have his best interest in mind. Players Union got involved. Eichel had to make all his medical records available to teams interested and any team interested has to agree to let him get the back surgery he wants.

Sucky situation for such a electric player.

VT isn't a bad player if the sabres can trade him, sabres can't retain though...they probably can but they shouldn't and won't. I mean 1.5m retained is 7.5m.

It depends on how badly he wants to get out of St. Louis. If he goes to Buffalo, he almost certainly isn't staying there very long. They'll play him in a prominent role with tons of ice time and then flip him for whatever they can get at the deadline or in the offseason. There's no point to having a 30 year old player making 7.5 for only the next two years. Is that preferable to playing third line minutes on this team? If Buffalo isn't completely miserable this year, it might be.

Trading for Eichel would be tough but if the Blues can not give up very much (probably less than what is here considering what they'll likely recoup for Tarasenko) they should absolutely do it. Future be damned. This team is built to win now, and with Eichel in the fold they could have a guy to build around going forward. Anybody we draft going forward is not going to be anywhere near Eichel caliber, and they're looking at third or fourth line minutes, or middle pair action, because the of the sheer amount of forwards, defensemen and goalies we have locked into long term deals already. And if that's all you're looking for, you can find those guys elsewhere than drafts. Only two guys in the bottom six of the cup winning team were drafted by the Blues.

Picks and prospects will come back around. Opportunities for elite players don't. By trading for Eichel you're probably ensuring that one of O'Reilly or Buchnevich isn't on the team in two years (unless they can shed a defenseman or Schenn or Saad with their NTCs). But Eichel's the better and younger player, and that's the type of cutthroat decisions it takes if you want to be a cup contender every year. Not saying it's a slam dunk but if there's a reasonable opportunity to get him, the Blues should absolutely do it.

Two players who have questionable futures involved in a trade.
I had to circle back to this post after thinking about it.
Buffalo is the big winner if Tarasenko completely recover even if Jack does the same.
On the other hand Tarasenko has had two underwhelming seasons due to his shoulder injury.
I make this deal if Vladimir would waive for Buffalo.
Imagine top lines of:
Skinner Cozens Hinostroza
Olofsson Thompson Tarasenko

Quoting: Dannywalters
Zach bolduc was a 2021 first round pick...
Quoting: Radu47
...Just needs a blue chip asset in the return Tho maybe the 2023 1st is that The BLUE CHIP is Tarasenko, if he bounces back Buffalo wins by a wide margin.

Good on Eichel...LOL the Blues top two centers are gifts from Buffalo.

Probably and overpay for Eichel...Only if Tarasenko completely recovers, then it is a HUGE win for Buffalo.

...they probably can but they shouldn't and won't. I mean 1.5m retained is 7.5m. Let's look at the draft pick for the retention. The trade is a gamble for both teams IMO.
