they have their fourth liners already w martin, cizikas, and clutterbuck and then johnston (whose cap hit is fully buriable, which ritchie’s wouldn’t be) as an extra. they have no need for nick ritchie.

if you look at it like how he has been on the top 4 of a very good regular season team, he would fetch more value than that, dont be surpeised when they trade him if they get a pair of seconds from a fringe playoff team

Alec Martinez got two seconds with just over a year remaining on his deal. Justin Holl is not Alec Martinez.

Marner isn't a fit in Washington salary wise. Too much money would have to be shed to make that work, and he hasn't proven to be worth it. I think he'd be an awesome playmaker to pair with Ovechkin, but Wilson is a one-of-a-kind player, and the Caps need to keep him around. Plus he's signed at a rate that's a $1-2M less than he'd get on the open market.

No need to a 27 yr old Left shot 3rd line player when they already have Paul, White, Tierney, and need to make room for prospects.

Capitals fans: Wilson is amazing and we love him.

Yeah... seems obvious why this trade sucks besides the obvious cap problem
I wouldn't trade Wilson for Marner... Marner cap hit is 2x more HARD PASS lol

Wilson is a ppg player atm while also adding the "wilson effect"... MArner is currently being ran out of Toronto for being overpaid/ underachieving

Short of Matthews, I don't think Toronto has any three pieces that should make Tom Wilson available.

fringe playoff teams would do that deal. i mean we gave up a first for foligno, does that mean hes better than taylor hall?
