Elvis recently signed a big extension, loves it here in Columbus, and has cemented himself as our starting goalie for the future. It would be foolish to trade him.

Is this a joke? Merzlikins just resigned with Columbus, besides Wallstedt will be in Minnesota sooner rather then later. And no freaking way Seth Jones waives for Minnesota. He chose the Hawks for a reason.

All of this ignoring the fact that we wouldn't trade for Merzlikins isn't necessary thanks to having Wallstedt in our system or the fact there's not a chance in hell we'd ever trade Eriksson-Ek for him.

That trade grossly overvalues Merzlikins. It also ignores that Eriksson-Ek himself just signed long-term and wants to stay with Minnesota. But that didn't cross anyone's mind either, did it.

But, we don't and wouldn't want Jones anyway. He's awful.

He's played like total trash for the Hawks so far, he was on the ice for 10 goals aloud. And none for when they scored. That alone would make me say hell no.

None of these trades help Minnesota one iota.

Eriksson-Ek just signed long term, 8 years, is only 24, and one of the best shutdown centerman in the league. Why on earth would we move him?

Even if we decided to rebuild. Joel Eriksson-Ek is a integral part of our core, now and in the future. He's more than young enough to still be part of any plans we might have after a rebuild. And on what earth does he carry less value than Elvis Merzlikins? He doesn't.

If he were delt, which isn't a possibility, the ask would be for either Kent Johnson or Cole Sillinger. At a minimum.

Next, I wouldn't move either Spurgeon or Dumba 1v1 for Jones. He's awful.

Finally, as others have said. Oilers aren't giving Yamamoto away for free. He also isn't a priority or something we would want or need, to begin with.
