Ovi is the only real candidate here, Oilers top 2 will always be in the running but I doubt either of them win. Only other player on this list with a shot is Kyle Conner

Yeah, he's 24 years old and had 15 goals in 129 games prior to this season - his hot streak won't last. But he's been excellent so far this year and that has to be acknowledged.

I actually think McDavid will insert himself into the race and it'll be between him, Draisaitl and Ovechkin. If you look at the past 2+ seasons, McDavid has been one of the most consistent goal scorers:

If Draisaitl doesn't win it will be because he's unselfish. The other day he scored 2 and then with the net empty he won the puck and skated up on a 2-on-1 breakaway, but passed it to Puljujarvi for the empty netter because Puljujarvi hadn't scored in a few games.

however our top scoring race is between suzuki hoffman and chiarot which is interesting

Matthews will go on a rip at some point and get back into the conversation. He'll score 15 in 13 games and be in the top 3. To deny it's going to happen is just ignoring reality.

Of all these guys aside from Ovi the only others with even a remotely sustainable sh% are the Connors ~Kyle & McDavid~ so it's probably a 3 player race

The list above is top-10 based on current scoring rates (G/GP), not a projection or anything. When Matthews recovers to 100% he'll make his way into the top 10, I'm just not sure whether that will happen in time to catch the leaders though. We'll see... I plan on updating this periodically throughout the season.

Draisaitl was at 30% a few days ago and I was told it wasn't going to last. Then Carlo gave him a huge gift last night and DeBrusk got walked by Cody Ceci who set up Draisaitl in front... 2 goals on 3 shots and here we are at 33% shooting.

This is quickly becoming a 1 horse race as Draisaitl continues to pile up the goals and the others have gone cold.
