This is the max I’d be willing to pay for him tbh. Maybe another 2nd . For that same contract, I’d rather offer more and get Boeser

I mean white when healthy can be a solid top end middle 6 guy (to be fair he is super injury prone),the second is in a pretty stacked draft(to be fair its tampas) and branstrom still has potential and will have room to grow in Arizona

Keller is also signed for 7 mil for the next 6 years and for a guy whos only had one 50+ point season the contract is a little heavy

Add another 2nd and it’s fair value. If Brannstrom becomes a 40pt guy it’s already a win for Arizona. He was on pace for close to that last year

Probably yes from Edmonton. I actually haven’t seen Del Zotto play the last few seasons, but if he was like the player is was 2-3 years ago, could be a good insurance marker for the bottom pairing left side

He seems to have pretty solid numbers the last few seasons and would even bring a solid veteran presence to edmonton(The sens don't have any use for him regardless)

Keller is heating up, and is a guy you’d love to give to Shane Wright in his rookie season to take some of the pressure off. They’d do this for schmaltz though

I'm not sold on Keller's contract. I think Zona was expecting him to improve upon his first year but that's been his best so far. Having a guy making 7.15M on the cap, the actually salary increases to 8.7 in the final year, and only putting up 50-60 points is tough. It just screams Bobby Ryan to me.

Del Zotto would be good insurance and a good fit for the Oil but that second year at 2M I think is what holds that back. They'll probably be looking for an expiring contract to bolster their D for the playoffs.

I have mixed feelings on the last trade. I would love so much to get Zaitsev off the team but I am also a huge fan of Forms.

I think the delzotto trade heavily relies on keith retiring or playing one more year (I think he reitires due to age, family and most importantly the fact he knows about the kyle beach case and is clearly lying)
Formeton though very talented doesn't have much room on the sens top or even middle six going forward so I feel like getting zaitsev off the books to a team that needs D-man and he would waive too while picking up some younger bottom 6 grit would be nice.

Keller seems to be heating up this year and seems to excel with talent around him in that sens top 6 but yeah the trade is a risk for that reason of how he fits in the sens top 6 going forward (Also I love that bobby ryan comparison it's spot on)
Both teams are taking risks with this trade with the sens hoping keller can be a 60-70 point guy with the sens and the yotes hoping white can stay healthy and more importantly how branstrom turns out with room to develop in their d-core

Arizona and Edmonton are getting fleeced here.

For the hundredth time, we are not spending assets to dump Zaitsev.

You are 18.6 million short of the salary cap in this post.

Please see the big picture for once.

You'd do yourself a favour.

Ah yes 18.6 mil of cap space is such a terrible thing when you have tons of young guys to sign

Edmonton relies on keith retiring (I think he reitires due to age, family and most importantly the fact he knows about the kyle beach case and is clearly lying) and del zotto is a great fit there

Keller has had one 50+ point year ever for a guy whos being paid 7 mil per year thats a pretty hefty contract. Zaitsev hurts the development of RD prospects (which the sens have a lot of) by taking top minutes away from their playing time. Forms is also expendable as he has no room in the sens top 6 going forward and honestly not much room in that middle 6 either making him a solid asset for the sens

1. Those "tons" of young guys would need to be signed in the 2023 offseason when Ottawa would have 30 million in cap space, according to how your post is structured.

Piece of Cake.

Not every young guy in Ottawa is going to be signed to 7 figures.

2. Next year, you can have MDZ for a 6th round pick if you want.

That's what he was traded for last time.

https://www.capfriendly.com/trades/players/michael-del-zotto

3. Keller plays for Arizona.

If he plays for a better team, his point production goes up.

Simple.

Also, Colin White has had one 40+ point year ever for a guy who's being paid 4.75 million per year.

That's a pretty hefty contract and he's never even hit 25 points since signing it.

4. Zaitsev can be bought out instead if you're so worried about him ruining everybody's development.

When you're spending Formenton and a pick just to dump Zaitsev, all you're doing is wasting assets for no good reason.

I'd be happy to trade Zaitsev with the retention for Brendan Lemieux straight up though.

1. Whats wrong with having lots of cap space regardless? Would you rather go into free agency and sign some guy like hertl to 8 mil just cause you have cap space?

2. Fair the sens might try to make his value seem higher tho due to edmontons circumstances

3. Just cause you go to a better team doesn't mean you get better numbers?

Prime example is J.T miller he was surrounded by so much talent on tampa and wasn't putting up massive numbers for them. When he was traded to a team like vancouver who had a bigger role for him he produced way more.

Kellers point totals could go up but its not a definite that they will 100 percent

When healthy he could return to the form of being a 40+ point guy on that arizona 1st line

4.

Honestly I prefer that one more than mine

1. I'd rather not spend assets just to dump Zaitsev when we are actually not up against the cap.

The whole point of doing a cap dump is if you're up against the cap and you need cap relief.

It's not rocket science.

2. If you spend a 4th round pick on MDZ, Ottawa will say "Thank you, Come again!"

3. If I'm Clayton Keller, I would feel more productive if I was playing with McDavid + Draisaitl as opposed to Travis Boyd + Alex Galchenyuk.

4. Me too.
