Debrusk for Labanc and one more move

Created by: ngikas

Description
Saw this as pure speculation on Labanc from a non official Bruins twitter account (@bruinscapspace on Twitter). Figure I'd extend the idea into here. Wouldn't mind hearing any thoughts on this idea.

I have another similar mock in my drafts that has DeBrusk for Dickenson 1 for 1, and Strome (no retention) for a 2nd and a 4th.

This could be a good change of scenery deal for both players -- I think it works.

I don’t see Strome as a 2C on this team. Coyle, for as much as everyone (myself included) has crapped on him, has held his own at 2C. Strome at 3C could be a better fit.

As for Lebanc, I don’t really like his game, but tbh, I haven’t liked JD’s game in a while either. I think DeBrusk has a higher ceiling but I don’t see it ever happening in Boston so it’s going to be a classic two guys who need a change of scenery trade. Lebanc has some postseason experience with decent underlying playoff numbers. Anyone the Bs get back is gonna have warts

Labanc would flourish in Boston and the cap hits are similar. this would be ideal but I don't think Boston does this without another piece added.

Labanc is offensively gifted but has Defensive weaknesses, and our system is a Defensive first mindset so our coach has him playing 4th line min which is a disgusting waste of a really talented player.
the honest truth is Boston would end up with the better player and this would look like a bone headed trade by the sharks in the end, but Labanc will never reach his potential here with our system.

I don't see Strome on this team period and I surely wouldn't pay two seconds for him. For me the wart on Lebanc is can he produce enough to justify paying him 4.75 M. If you think so, make the deal.

When Labanc is put in your top 6 with a defensively sound guy like Coyle and and offensively gifted player like Hall and allowed to use his offensive gifts he will surprise you. Last time Labanc played with a gifted guy (Joe Thornton) he put up 56 points. the sharks expected/demanded Labanc to play Defense first game and carry a line offensively that consisted of Bonino and Nieto, (both plus defenders but zero offensive talent at this point in their careers) and he has looked bad, but that's more because our coach not utilizing players talent and instead forcing his system on them. If Boogie was a better coach or the sharks had more talent to surround him he would be a better player.

If labanc doesn’t turn it around, it’s a big problem.
If debrusk doesn’t turn it around, don’t qualify him, move on.

No thanks. Wouldn’t take labanc if he were on waivers.

I agree with you about Coyle. I look at this as more of something to really get Hall going. With Marchy suspended and Hall playing up on top line, Haula-Coyle-Smith seems to be a line thats clicked since being put together. So you could look at Coyle's line as 2A and Strome as 2B.

What about the other draft of a mock I mentioned? DeBrusk for Dickenson (less contractual risk with Dickenson like DeBrusk) and a 2nd and 4th for Strome?

Don’t want any of those players. Picks are okay though.

strome reportedly can't get even a mid round pick at most someone trades a 3rd not 2 2nds. id be down for labanc trade though. hall coyle labanc would be solid
