Not exactly but Valimaki isn't getting any better sitting in the press box and he is waiver exempt

Monahan plays 2nd/3rd line center. Him and Backlund play around the same amount of ice time at 5v5

not interested bud. he hasn't hit 50 points in the past 3 or 4 seasons and at age 27 I don't expect him to get better tbh. plsu we're going through a rebuild. monahan doesn't help in that.

I don't think you understand how cap works, Calgary can't make this trade without cap going out.

As for Monahan's production, not really sure how you expected a 60 point average player to hit 50 points in 2 short seasons, he was also injured the entirety of last year

I think the trade has potential

Having another 2-way center and 2-way wing on good deals aint a bad thing. Plus Toffoli does know Sutter from his King days.

Like what? You are getting a refund on Dvorak and a fair swap for Toffoli

we dont need to package them. teams want cost effective players and both of them are cost effective players. add valimaki or another high end d-man at least.

Seems fair, and I like it. Dvorak and Tkachuk know each other from that sick London Knights team in junior, Toffoli knows Sutter from his time in LA, and they’re both defensively responsible players that can score 20 goals (Toffoli especially as a right shot sniper is exactly what we need). Never gonna complain about good players on affordable contracts with term. I do wonder how this affects our ability to resign Tkachuk, Gaudreau, Mangiapane, and Kylington though. Might be able to squeeze it in, might have to trade Lucic, which would kinda suck, he’s a great 4LW.

I know! Swap Ritchie for Pitlick, and Swap the 2nd for Valimaki, that should make the cap work

I'm not sure how the flames would be able to re-sign all their key guys next year after this trade. If you can somehow manage that without having to give up to much to move money out, I would do it from the flames perspective.
