Hard to turn down 2nd overall in a trade like this. Toffoli could be a good part to plug-in, though I know CBJ are looking to open up F spots rather than fill them.

Still, wouldn’t be hard to flip him/rope in a third team.

I just cannot believe that a Montreal fan would even contemplate giving up the second overall pick for Patrik Laine, never mind the additions. Does anyone think that the Canadiens will be contenders in the next two or three seasons?

Marc Bergevin probably does. The question is, does Gorton. 2nd OA looks fine and dandy any year that the habs don't draft top-3, otherwise it'll most likely be a bad draft

2nd overall pick, toffoli and a prospect. Yeah the Blue Jackets take that
Calgary declines
With the question mark of Prices future, not sure if Edmonton does that
Rangers take that i would assume

Just take Wright or Savoie than trade for Laine.

Personally not taking on "the new Byron contract" that habs fans have tried to dump on Ottawa for a while now.

Exact same contract : 3.4 AAV x 4 years

I'd much rather re-sign Nick Paul for ~2.5 AAV
