Gorgeiev has a 908 save percentage this season. He’s never played more than 34 games in an NHL campaign. I’m not convinced he’s the answer.

I don’t see the oilers spending a first on a goalie. Smith has another year on his deal and skinner has to be with the team full time next year. My guess the biggest goaltending addition we make is a third string veteran for next year that can pass threw waivers.

Koskinen + 2nd + 4th for Georgiev is a fair trade idea between NYR and EDM that have been agreed upon by a few on each side here.

That’s not his elc. He signed a two year extension on august 8 2021. Second year not being waiver exempt. I think alot of people forget that part which does create a massive complication in just going out and getting a new goalie. Smith is under contract and skinner can’t be sent down.

We still need a backup though. $2.425M to $4.5M isn't going to do much to a $10M cap limit at the deadline for us.

Hajek shouldn't be playing. Jones is honestly a nice skater and offensive player but I don't even want him there. I think if we could snag Chiarot for a reasonable price or someone else it's worth it but you can always ask for retention on these players. Sellers aren't stinging with that.

Retention will always come at a cost. I want to be a buyer but minimize our costs, essentially best bang for the buck.

Also this isnt just the 2m extra, this also has 50% retention on Georgi making it 3.2m extra for us. Sure we can flip this pick and ask for retention on someone else, but why? Koskinen isnt THAT good. Georgiev has been playing really well since being asked to step in in December.
