Some veteran leadership

Description
All good teams have this. It's no wonder Buffalo prospects never seem to pan out. They're being thrown to the wolves on day 1. Dahlin, Cozens, Krebs, etc should be sheltered under experienced mentors until they fully develop.

So I got veteran players at the most important positions: one D, one C, one G. I signed Giordano to an overpayment for one year, traded for Johansen, and traded for Vanecek.

I am a really big believer in Kevyn Adams, I think he's instilling the right culture in Buffalo and I think moves like these would continue to keep them on the right track.

Also, yes I realize I'm missing two RHDs. Those are positions that will probably be unfortunately weak for Buffalo so just imagine they're filled by replacement level guys. I just wanted to see what kind of veterans were available for Buffalo.

Johansen has 2 more years and isn't worth his contact, but he isn't a bad player. Would Nashville give up a first round pick for this? Probably not, I think they'd rather just stay the course for a couple years. But a pair of 2nd rounders? I think they might be convinced.

    Additional Details:
I read that Chicago saw something in Bjork when he was on the trading block in Boston, and he's done a whole lot of nothing for Buffalo. If they still see him as a reclamation project, they might give up a pick for him.

I know for sure if he'll be gone this offseason, but if not Vanecek then just another similar goalie who can split starts.

Which prospects exactly are you referring to? This is idiotic as krebs and cozens are both centers and we should not transfer them to the wing

Sorry for the confusion, but for the Preds trade your wanting Johansen (27 pts in 32 games) and two 2nd round picks or a 1st round pick for nothing? He has 3 more years on his contract btw.

Stan Bowman isn't with the Hawks anymore. getting Bjork would be the most stereotypical Bowman move ever. Bjork was a beast at Notre Dame.

My bad yes, three years. I think Johansen will fall back down to Earth and have probably 60 or so points by the end of the year. This season so far is a clear outlier for him and I honestly believe the preds would be wise to get rid of him this year while other teams might be willing to bite based on recency bias.

Don't pay too much attention to the lines, I just wanted to get Johansen to fill the 1C role so that none of the young guys need to until they're ready.

I think you could have got a late round pick from Poile for taking on Johansen this past offseason but there is zero chance that you get 2 2nds or a 1st from him now. Especially without something coming back. Even if he comes down to 60 points this season, a team isn't going to pay a 1st or couple 2nds to get rid of a player putting up those numbers LOL.

Anything constructive to say other than just calling it a mess?

You took one of our leading scorers, who wears a letter, and benched him in an AGM that talks about veteran leadership.

You traded for Ryan Johansen so you could move cozens and Krebs both to wing.

You signed a 4000 year old LHD when we have 5 quality LHD already

    You didn't sign Brett Murray.

Agree. Reclamation projects were a Stan Bowman thing. He's thankfully gone. I don't think Hawks need to do this trade.

Nashville has tons of cap and Johansen is playing well and worth his contract. Even if he regresses to the 60 point area that he typically is that’s still not a terrible overpay for him. Either way Nashville doesn’t pay to move him
