Team: 2021-22 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 10, 2022
Published: Jan. 10, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
STL
  1. Chychrun, Jakob
Additional Details:
Apparently teams value Hofer quite a bit and the Blues have been reluctant to trade him. Still think Perunovich or Neighbours will be the big piece going the other way. I think Perunovich is better, but maybe AZ values the potential leadership and connection with Guenther that Neighbours has. Maybe it takes both, blues might balk at that idk.

They'll have to give up Perunovich but I'm not keen on trading Hofer. I'd rather trade Ellis or Husso

If Hofer is the guy that makes it happen, you pull the trigger. JB is under contract for 5 more years and Blues do well at finding goalies in the draft

If that was a '23 1st, I'd do it. Of course, Arizona might not.

I think almost any Blues fan would be happy with this. Our organization should have an advantage as Bill Armstrong, now Arizona’s GM, has a lot of familiarity with our players.

Gave up Dunn for free and now looking to pay big for a replacement? Doesn't make sense.

Dunn isn't as good as Chychrun.

Goalies are almost always a crap shoot. Blues have also made a lot of bad decisions when it comes to goaltending as well (trading Bishop in favor of Allen for one). As you said, Binnington is signed for 5 more years but I don't have a ton a of faith that contract will age well.

I like this deal. Arizona might get more from a desperate team that overpays but I think its possible

Lol neither do I, but he’s not gonna be bad enough for Hofer to take over the roll

They never said that other teams value Hofer just that the Blues have been hesitant to trade him.

That doesn't mean they value him highly just that the deals didn't get done. This description is your own interpretation and not what they said in 31 thoughts which you imply.

Well two very connected people mentioned Hofer in regards to a piece that could be used in the Chychrun trade. Maybe nothing too it, but interesting especially considering who the AS GM is. What’s the future of goaltending look like in AZ?

I think AZ can get a better offer from Anaheim or LA. Their prospect pools are ridiculous, especially LA's.

I doubt anyone sees Hofer as the future of the goaltending in their organizations. He had a good world juniors a few seasons ago but has been drowning ever since.

I think, here I can say first time my unpopular opinion: Jacob has his career year past season and because of it, Bill trying trade him now. Next season he will dont improve statistically and his value drop significantly.

I’d agree, but he’s still a solid prospect. He’s really struggled last 10 games, started out strong this year though and was pretty consistent in junior.

They are very different players. And everybody (except favorite child Vegas, of course) has to pay the expansion piper.

Maybe not, but how is he drowning since 2020 exactly? He's a 21-year-old goalie with an NHL win already. Sheesh.

Dunn is nowhere close to the player Chychrun is...

It's already a bad deal. I liked it when it was signed but it was a calculated risk that to this point has not worked out favorably unfortunately.

Again... 21-year-old goalie. Nobody is "drowning".

Joseph Woll posted a .880 and a .892 save % in his age 21 and 22 years at the AHL level. Bet you didn't say he was drowning then.
