***EDIT*** I thought it was Matheson to the Hawks initially. (2) 3rds for MP's signing rights...IDK Hawks still have a log jam at LD, but (2) 3rds isn't' a lot to give up.

Zucker is pretty far from a Forsberg replacement. Acquiring Zucker would just be throwing away cap space for no reason.

I still think it’s a no in my opinion. Hawks have like 8 NHL ready Dmen outside of the 4 that they have signed beyond this season. Hawks are desperate for any kind of offensive help and for a rebuilding team I’d rather have picks than bodies.

I hear ya. The Hawks would have to move people around. They might need to do it anyway even if they didn't acquire MP. Maybe sending back some shorter term and lower cap like Connolly with a 1 year $2.375M and then the Hawks need to figure out what they want to do with Beaudin, Kalynuk, Caleb Jones, and Riley Stillman.... Maybe Beaudin heads back home to MTL in a prospect swap for someone like Jan Mysak?

Pettersson has been great this season. The pens aren’t going to just give him away like that. That’s silly.

they aren't signing carter at 3x5 come on man.
Rodrigues isn't being resigned at that rate.
Those Malkin and Letang contracts probably ain't it.
I think malkin looks more like Hall, 4x6. But we'll see.
If this team wants to win and not be traded out like all the other older players their age going to a new team, then they have to be flexible on the cap. They have to know that.

I still think that Petterson contract is bad wouldn’t exactly pay mid round picks for a bottom pairing defensemen

You guys kill me with all of the hair-brained signings. Why would/should the Penguins give two-year contracts to garbage RFA and UFAs? They need to extend Malkin, Rust, Letang, Carter, Rodrigues, Kapanen, Heinen, Aston-Reese, and perhaps Domingue, as well as Nylander, Bellerive, Joseph, and Lee; the rest are useless. They should sign Svejkovsky, Ansons, and maybe Phillips. They also need another right-handed defenseman. Perhaps Colin Miller, even Robert Bortuzzo would be better than their current third pair options. Maybe they could make an offer to Tony DeAngelo. Noah Dobson or Adam Boqvist would come discounted. Zucker needs to go, but they can only get a draft pick for him. Let’s use some common sense on this interactive portion of this site. PHARROW RULES! HE SHOULD BE THE PENGUINS GM.
