Is it too early to trade Parayko

Created by: Chopper02

Initial Creation Date: Jan. 24, 2022
Published: Jan. 24, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Don't get me wrong, I've loved watching Parayko since he came into the league, but man has he looked God awful this year and a good chunk of last year. What would he even be worth at this point.

I'm not saying the Blues should trade him, but he doesn't exactly install confidence going forward. What's your offer?

From Buffalo I could do either the Florida or Vegas 1st in 2022, any of the 2nds in 2023, Ryan Johnson/Oskari Laaksonen, and a player like Asplund

Do you feel like he’s worth his deal? I just think RHD are always valuable, and a big bodied RHD like parayko likely still fetches a 1st and a good prospect.

I feel like he can be. Something just isn't clicking with him and I'm not sure if it's the lack of a competent LD to play with or maybe he's playing too much. The ability is there.

It’s risky, but he’s been a massive liability this season

I'd think Blues would get a better package elsewhere. Samuelson I'd like to add in there.

I know. Binnington's contract is bad enough and Schenn's won't age well either. One thing Army isn't smart about is his contract extensions.

look at the games he plays well in its when hes with mikkola and they play max 20 mins a night Krug and faulk can carry the heavy workload while Parayko doesnt have cofidence idk if his long time partner in jaybo almost dying rattled him or what but he hasnt been the same since. he shows flashes but we need a true defensive specialist next to him and rn there arent to many top 4 ones about

Sam not available imo. He's playing 20+ mins a night as a rookie. Very reliable, great leadership qualities, moves extremely well for a 6'4" 220 lbs guy.

Morrow I think would be met with an instant no. You might be able to press the Canes into Heimosalmi if that first is lottery protected.

Sam only has a small sample size but I like what he brings. Plus with Power coming they could clear space on the left side.

I dont even think he looks good with Mikkola. I do agree he's playing too much. It would be nice to have a defensive specialist with him but that's also a problem as Parayko is supposed to be that as well.

I dont think it would only because Parayko is locked in for term and Canes are locked in a win now mode. May not get Suzuki with it but Morrow would have to be in the return.

Then Parayko is in no danger of becoming a Cane. Morrow right now is going to be an instant no in almost any deadline deal.

If you think the Canes are in win now mode, fine. What's the harm in lottery protecting it? Things blow up. Things change.

Suzuki being moved makes a lot of sense. Carolina have a LOT of very good young C's coming through as well as Aho, KK etc... he's likely not going to get an NHL shot in Raleigh.

Yeah, of the Canes prospects, Morrow is an untouchable. I have always liked Parayko, but if the price to get him is Morrow, then you can just forget it.

Substitute Max Jones or Sam Steel for Comtois and add one of Jackson LaCombe or Henry Thrun.

hes supposed to be but hes not and at this point we have to accept he is an offensive dman who doesnt screw up in his zone he needs a guy he put his trust in will stop a 3-1 that was jay bo he doesnt look like he trusts mikkola yet but he defianlty shows flashes of it

Still need 3 guys on the left, Dahlin and Power are 1 and 2. Samuelsson is the perfect 3rd. Sure its a small sample size but his approach to the game has not changed from WJC, NCAA, AHL, to NHL. He finds success at every level so far and his offense continues to grow. Teams dream of big mobile D-men who munch mins, shutdown defensively, and bring quality leadership to the room. That's the kind of player Sam is, hopefully it continues to translate to the NHL level

Bryson is there too. That's my point. Buffalo has the left side locked. I like Sam and that's why I want him lol but it is a small sample size
