Looks good except for that Penguins trade. No way would I give up Gurianov and Damiani to bring in Kapanen.

The TDL trade are OK while slightly in favor of Dallas. You might have to add some 3rd or lower draft pick to make it work.

I don’t think Calgary will take Seguin’s contract and I don’t think Seguin would wave.

For 6 years, Robertson will ask more. Better to sign him on a bridge deal in synch with the termination of Benn’s contract.

Palat will cost you more than 5M$.

I think you could get Kapanen one on one for Gurianov. If you need to add, it won’t be for a quality prospect like Damiani.

Instead of trading for Barrie, maybe we should go get a RD like Manson or Schultz on the UFA market.

Hopefully Julian Brisebois sticks to his word and doesn't give away good young players on great contracts for rentals

Drop Damiani from the Kappy trade and the retention from Seguin and I like it all.

A nothing NCAA defenceman and a third round pick probably doesn't get you one of the more productive defensemen in the league.

I don't think the ask of some Oilers fans has been reasonable but a roster piece and a third round pick is fine value; de-value the pick depending on the roster piece in question.

I think Barrie to Dallas is doable if Klingberg leaves, but I don't think the Oilers will have any interest in Ryan Shea. Where would he fit among Broberg, Neimelainen, Samorukov, and Muzenberger? A solid RD prospect or a forward would make more sense for Edmonton.

Ha! You surely must realize that the Flames wouldn;t touch that with a 10-ft. isotope rod.

What would you want for seguin with some retained trading to NYR?

Depends on the retained amount but as a Stars fan I'd love myself some Lundkvist. He's the exact kind of player we need.

I'd run for the hills for that.

Seguin, as good as he is, has a risky contract, so moving him and getting good assets for him would be a major dub for us in the long-term I think. That cap space is going to be very useful.

Only problem here is that Dallas has the one of the worst RHD pool’s possible.

We have Klingberg (upcoming UFA that isn’t happy with his situation, likely to leave), Hakanpaa, and then a bunch of AHL bums who at best will be 1st parring dman for their respective AHL team.

I think if stars would retain 2m the rangers should take the chance since this is their window. Would be better than Strome at that price at least. I get what you are saying abt risky. Rangers could always throw a secondary prospect like he henrikson or Robertson to push for the retention

20% salary retention should be doable. That would total to $1,97M, which would mean Seguin's cap hit is $7,880M. I dunno if that's sustainable for NYR, but at the price point they've offered I think Stars should be game. At least I would be if I were their GM.

Barrie might be a step down from Klingberg, but his contract is quite good value. He can definitely boost a powerplay, and if deployed properly his offensive contributions far exceed his defensive challenges. Deployed properly, he can help the Stars.
