Not every Sens fan wants to trade Connor Brown but I do. Not because he isn’t good but his next contract could be too rich for the Sens and might be in the way of other re-signings and we have a ton of prospects that could replace him in the middle 6 internally

I think Brown is great, but getting a 1st rounder + a decent prospect for him seems pretty sweet. Especially the Oilers 1st.

Stars pass. Denny is a keeper and has been a big part of getting more from Benn and Seguin

I believe the cap is supposed to go up to 82.5M… also, I like the thought of getting Brown, but are you trading for Brown just to use him as a one year rental? I don’t see us being able to resign him at 5-6M long term.

That projection was before MTL/TOR/OTT/WPG were playing without fans, which could affect overall revenue and the cap going up. Ideally it goes up to $82.5M, but this is just in case it stays flat.
Brown would be a 1-year rental, with Bourgault ideally being ready to take his place in 23/24.

I don’t think he gets more money than Coleman or Garland did . Similar tho

That makes a lot of sense. Thank you for clarifying it for me! I see Bouchard getting 5-6M especially if he gets better than he is, and Skinner will probably get 2-3M as well. Hopefully be then the cap goes up. We will be able to afford those guys if that’s all they want! And yah, hopefully Bourgault can come up after Browns deal is up.

I see him getting around a Coleman (4.9M), or Hyman (5.5M) deal money wise. He is a very good player. Himself, and Coleman play very much alike!

Can RNH still play centre or no?

I'd love to see a roughly $5Mx8 contract for Bouchard, which is fully covered by Keith coming off the books in the same summer. Cap going up plus the end of the Sekera Buyout and Lucic retention more than covers Skinner's raise. If they can clear out Barrie/Kassian/Smith this summer they should have pretty reasonable cap flexibility moving forward depending on what else they do.

He's been 3C the last few games with pretty solid results. Him and Hyman work well together and make a really strong 3rd line imo.

He can but he’s not very good at driving his own line. You would need a guy who can do that for him. He is decent when it comes to him being physical (like hits and stuff), but not great. I would say he is better on the wing. Honestly, I think New York Rangers would’ve offered him 8M if he dropped to free agency.

100% agree. Finally a oilers fan I agree with haha. Depending on where we pick in the draft, I would love to see us pick a right shot defence man, or trade for one. Bouchard is definitely good, and I also hope they can lock him up at 5M. We should be fine, it will be interesting to see what Holland does.. I also think those guys need to go in the off-season. I still think Smith retires after this season, with his injuries and all.

Their F core is actually pretty solid; adding another top-9 winger like Brown would really strengthen it. Their biggest weakness is (obviously) D and G. Is Brown just as good at LW as RW?

RD is definitely their biggest need; they don't really have any in their pipeline. Depends who is available in the draft but if there are good RD available in their slot I'd spring for him.
I saw a rumour that Smith has been extremely frustrated with his injuries this year and is considering retirement for next year to step into a goalie coach role with the team.. who knows, but if he can't stay healthy the rest of the year it's not unreasonable imo.

I would love it if Smith was the goaltender coach! Skinner really likes him, you can tell by the way he plays. I think it depends on where we place. If we don’t make the playoffs, and pick in the top 10, I could see us getting either David Jiricek, or Simon Nemec. Both good right shot defence men. I would love to get one, because after Bouchard our next best is Kemp, then Kesselring, Berglund etc.

The x’s should be Marchment. Marchment, McLeod, Kassian would be very good! If they don’t trade Kassian before then… if they do, Marchment would still be a good guy to get.

Half a dozen prospects that I'd prefer out of the Oilers system. I'd pass on Lavoie but I'm all for the trade structure.

Which prospects do you have your eyes on? Some of them wouldn't make sense from an Oilers perspective, but curious who you're thinking about.

Somehow Marchment has 12 points in his last 4 games but even before that he had 11 in 17. Regardless of whether its sustainable or not, 23 points in 21 games so far puts him in a position to earn himself a bigger contract than whats offered here and likely a bigger contract than Edmonton could afford.

This is more just personal but I do know I've seen scouts say the same thing. Lavoie just has a lot of boom or bust to him. Even this season.. 14 points in his last 14 games but started the year off with only 3 points in 18 games.

Bourgault, Holloway and Broberg are your A prospects and I dont think warrant being included in this trade. Mcleod is pretty much graduated so lets say we rule him out as well. Honestly I think literally anyone else of the B-tier prospects would suffice. Savoie, Petrov, Tullio even someone like Chiasson might be more appealing.

Nothing wrong with Lavoie and realistically theres a chance Dorion and Mann may like his potential but if I had to choose one prospect in Edmonton's organization to be a bust it would be him.

Stars pass here. I can't see them trading for Barrie, given how he's underperformed in Edmonton. Paying both Suter and Barrie would be brutal in terms of trying to field a competitive team.
