Initial Creation Date: Jan. 25, 2022

Description
I want buffalo to target these 2 FA's and trades this offseason.

Obviously not going to happen, and value is probably off.

overpay jack campbell to come to buffalo and play until portillo and levi are ready.
Give forsberg a big paycheck for a few years and try to be competitive while they have a bunch of team friendly contracts and ELC's

Solidify the right side a bit with some trades.

Better trade Olofsson before he loses more value playing 4th line next year with Girgensons and Okposo.

Tampa does not trade Cernak for this.

Campbell could get a much better deal. Maybe if you're going to pay Campbell 8 million he'll come to Buffalo, but not with that money.

You think he will? He's been fairly average on a pretty good team.

Physical top 4 RD has a lot of value, we got 1st + 2nd for Risto and Cernak is better than Risto, younger and cheaper.

Look how much goalies get paid in the current NHL. Campbell has very solid stats no matter what team he's on. He will easily get money and Grubauer term at UFA, maybe even more than 6+ million, I don't know what his motivation is to sign for two years in Buffalo for 4+ million, Toronto could probably just as easily offer the same deal for his starter and he would choose Toronto.

No chance TB trades away their best player at their weakest position especially when they only have 3 Rhd NHL ready signed next year, unless it is a grotesque overpay which this doesn't come close to.

The leafs are at the cap with like 7 guys to re-sign next season. They're in no position to be offering him 4 million+ and keep Mrazek, but I see your point...someone else can offer him more. Fair enough.

I said in the descriptionit wont happen and the values are off. It's just a player i'm interested in. A conversation starter if you will.

It would take an offer buffalo would be absolutely moronic to make to get TB to even consider. If TB decided to trade one of it's too 5 defenseman Sergachev is probably the odd man out

I do not understand the obsession Buffalo fans have for Cernak.
If they swapped uniforms and Jokiharju played for Tampa, and Cernak played for Buffalo, everyone would be agree Henri was the better of the two.
Buffalo has one good scoring line, one top defenseman and one 40 yo top GK.
Look at Corey Perry, with dozen goal already this season, his highest total in 4 years.
Put him a Sabre uniform he would not have half of that.
Let's just stop giving up first round picks just because a defenseman shoot right handed and plays two more minutes per game than Zach (OMG) Bogosian for a Stanley cup team!
Well that is my rant of the day, as I would rather keep the first and try to sign a decent (Klingberg) or great (Letang) UFA RHD.
Both just may relish playing next to Dahlin or Power.

Completely agree here, I'd only add Cernak to help power next year and wouldn't trade Joki. Looking more and more like Fitzgerald will be ready and able next year so I'd just stay with what we got, draft Jiricek or Nemec and call it a win.

I could not agree more.
Let's be completely candid here, as good as Dahlin has been and he will only get better, he does not make Jokiharju look good.
Henri has to try to erase every mistake Rasmus makes and he makes many every game.
Cernak does not have to do that and if he does make a mistake, he does not have a Dell or Houser in goal.
Let's not forget, Laaksonen could easily be ready next year.
Regardless, Cernak is not the top pairing RHD Buffalo needs to take a step into the playoffs.

Cernak > Jokiharju

Perhaps Jokiharju is one of the most overrated players fans Buffalo. Maybe it's the Nylander effect that we traded the capricious Alex and got a young defender who really played well and consistently only in the third pair with Scandella. Look at how many mistakes Jokiharju makes, he has as many if not more mistakes than Dahlin, but at least Dahlin very good puck movers and is much better in offensive. That's my opinion, but Jokiharju is not a first-pair defense player, he probably wouldn't even play second-pair in a good team. I think he heavily overrated and nothing special.
