Yzerman is not paying to take on a 34yo defenseman who makes 6.25 mil over the next 3 yeara.

Marner is not a good fit for Wings. Price is low also.

Evidsson is no Chychurn but Wings not in a position to trade 1st yet.

Overall these are not good trades for Wings. With Other players coming up for new deals it will really hurt the cap

That Marner trade makes 0 sense for Toronto in terms of value.

Fabbri - Middle 6 Winger
Hronek - 3rd/4th defensemen on Toronto
2nd round pick - Not much to Toronto

This is not at all enough for Marner. As much as wings fans wouldn’t wanna hear this, a Marner trade starts with Raymond/Seider which makes no sense for the Wings at this time.

This trade is bad for both teams, we don't want Mrazek and especially not Ritchie. I like marner but the cost would be too high for Detroit. Plus his contract duration isn't ideal for us.

Hronek would be a nice upgrade to your right side, that said this trade doesn't make sense for either team. This guy also isn't a wings fan. I think he was trading value away from marner by attaching Mrazek and Ritchie and both of those players are a no go for Detroit. Other teams would pay more for Marner if they could afford his contract. And you are right Raymond or Seider makes zero sense for us.

You are right, he forgot to add the sweeteners, a couple second round picks to Detroit for taking him off your hands.

Yes because teams typically pay other teams to take Thier top 4 dman. And before the whole 'he isn't worth anything' go read what the experts are reporting and what GMs are telling them because it's far from your reality

Oh he might be worth something, but to Detroit he's worth nothing. Actually he's worth less than nothing. For Detroit to take him Montreal will have to pay. We have no use for him.

Ahh yes because no young team needs leaders to show Thier young players how to handle being a pro. Let alone one that was just part of a long cup run.

I agree that Detroit won't be interested in paying the price for him now but in a couple years they will go out and look for a player just like him.

We have enough veteran leadership on the team already. If in two years the team needs a player like that then sure, why pay for him now when you don't know where the team will be in two years. There is no argument you can make that could ever convince any of the wings fans on here that Petry is worth paying for.

It’s just odd you’d say that when he’s playing like a dog because he’s unhappy so you’d essentially be telling your young players if they don’t get what they want to play like crap.

He is playing poorly because he has been separated from his family because of COVID. They had to stay in Minnesota while he is in MTL, he isn't unhappy with the organization, just the situation

His family chose to leave Quebec, therefore, a potential contributing factor to his on ice performance. You can’t sugarcoat that any other way and isn’t a quality in a leader that is highly coveted if it’s your selling point. A leadership quality would be if he was out there breaking his back regardless of standings/family/etc. but privately vented his frustration to the FO so they could facilitate a trade.

Mental health has always effected players and right now Quebec has had more lockdowns, curfews and mandates then anywhere else in NA. I can't blame his family for not wanting to be there this winter when they can live somewhere else and actually go to restaurants and stuff but thinking it won't be an anchor in his life is wrong.

Should he start playing better? Absolutely. Has it been a really hard year for him away from his family? Absolutely. Will he likely go back to playing at the same level as he has for the last 4 years? The team that trades assets for him will be betting on it.

I never once said it wouldn’t effect him but rather his on ice efforts reflect that which I found ironic you’d say “veteran leadership”. That is the opposite of leadership since he should be the one setting the precedent regardless of outside factors. He signed a contract knowingly what it was like to live there with Covid. Vaccines were known for half year before the extension signing too and it was reported by everyone it wasn’t a cure but rather to curve the impact. Do I think a GM will take a chance on him? Sure, but the rationale you and other Hab fans have been posting is illogical.

So basically a player should never play bad if he is a leader? This is a false equivalence, if they play badly doesn't mean they're a bad leader. He still does everything a pro should do and shows young players how to be a pro, that's leadership. Not letting on ice struggles get you down and showing you can continue to work through the struggles on and off the ice is leadership. Saying something is illogical because it doesn't fit your opinion doesn't make it factual

There is a difference between playing bad and on ice effort. I’ve had to state this multiple times as your whole argument is based on assumptions and putting words into my mouth. A player can be one or without the effort. Prime example, Abdelkader the guy gave it every night but wasn’t a top 6 player. Petry on the other hand you can’t tell me he lays it on the line every night. Leaders give it their all every night like I said regardless of other factors. It’s called setting a precedent and probably chapter 1 in every leadership book. Just because you say Petry is X when the performances say otherwise doesn’t make it factual. Same goes with changing the fundamentals of an coveted leadership characteristics.

Western GMs have already told reporters they still see value in him. Lebrun interviewed multiple and all confirmed he still has value.

The chances of Nick Leddy re-signing in Detroit = 1% (rounded up to get that figure and assumed he suffered some injury that requires a long rehab before the trade deadline like Mike Green did a few years ago). Leddy has shown very little of what was expected and even during his introductory press conference was thought to be pouting by many fans. He still has value to a playoff team esp if Detroit retains salary so look for him to get moved by the deadline.

Zadina will probably get a short term deal if not moved in a change of scenery deal—but that amount is too low.

Stecher will sign elsewhere as Seider and Lindstrom’s emergence push him to a healthy scratch role.

Chychrun trade doesn’t fit Yzerman’s M.O. of having big mobile d-men (look at the size of d-men he has drafted in the 1st and 2nd rounds: Seider (6’3”), Edvinsson (6’4”), Shai Buium (6’3”), William Wallinder (6’4”). Beyond that Detroit has invested heavily in the LD spot and won’t be trading strength and draft capital for the same position.

The Leafs are thick headed and still think their team as constituted will be successful in the playoffs (with all the first round exits it will be funny to watch them get bounced by Florida in this year’s edition. Happy Maple Leaf Elimination Day to you too a bit early—but even their fans know it is coming.). But I don’t see the Wings wanting to give up the capital for a player that isn’t a top line centre. The Wings are very happy with Lucas Raymond on that 1st line.
