Description
With the "love/hate" relationship with the Wild I give them first crack at Stas just to help them this year but also weaken their prospect pool in future years. If they aren't interested I trade him to the Blues instead.

Copp is the player that they were hoping that DeBrusk would be. His style of play really fits what they do IMO. If not Boston I shop him to the Bolts and Avs.

We traded 2 -2nds for Dillon 6 months ago so we likely look to recoup a 2nd and 3rd because he has term. Kings have a need for a physical top 4 LHD and an overflowing prospect pipeline so I think this makes sense for both teams.

For the Panthers this trade could wait until the offseason if they wanted, but I think it helps them for this playoff run too so I've put it in at the deadline.

Beaulieu plays both sides and is a depth D with some grit. I think the Oilers grab a playoff spot and bolster the blueline with a cheap addition.

DeMelo is someone that we could keep but I do think we need to open a spot for Kovacevic. With 8 picks in the first 2 rounds this year I targeted the Coyotes 2nd because I think it will be the earliest of their 5 - 2nd round picks and they will have already made 3 picks in the draft by that point. They can play him top pair on the right side for a season or 2 and then flip him at the deadline to get a pick back in a future year.

Not really sure how I feel about Stastny, but I could see us making that move. Seems like a very fair trade.

I though you guys were looking for a top 6 C and Stas doesn't skate like he used to but he's a proven playoff performer scoring at 0.8 PPG over 100 playoff games.

Still really good at faceoffs and is a great leader. Almost like adding another coach. He'll be a big boost wherever we trade him and if we retain that is incredible value for the player that you get.

That's why I'm not sure how I feel about him. This team is built off speed and if we acquired a top 6 center the point would be to play him between Boldy and Fiala, who need a speedy center. He's a fine player, just not sure whether or not he'd be a fit for what we need.

An overpayment for Tippett and I wouldn't stick him on the 2nd line, but other than that it looks realistic. The teams may not be correct, but the prices are realistic.

If anything, I would trade Stastny to the Avs. Played there for a while and he has a better chance of winning a cup there than in Winnipeg. Though I would trade Schiefele away as we need a culture change. Winnipeg isn't getting anywhere with the team we have.

Also I would trade Schmidt or even JoMo over DeMelo. Pretty sure DeMelo has a no movement clause. Then start a retool.

I do like the other trades though. Stanley and Beau have been terrible, dunno why the organization is so high on Stanley. I think more than anything Beau will be put on waivers in the coming weeks. Dillon provides defense, but I think he could thrive more on LA.

EDIT: The Florida trade you are giving too many assets. I think Vesalainen alone should work. Tippett has been scratched for some games, so including Stanley in the deal would be an overpayment. I would trade Stanley separately.

Avs or the Blues are probably realistic options. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets asked him where he wanted to go and tried to facilitate that. I think both those teams would welcome him back with open arms. Anyhow, the point is we trade him for a 2nd somewhere.

I just think that there will be some team out there that is willing to give a 7th for Beau. We've done it a fair amount when we make the playoffs just in case you get down to that 8th or 9th Dman.

I don't really know that much about Tippett but thought that as a former #10OA pick the Panthers would want more than Stanley. I view them as needing the Left D and then giving Vesa to backfill for Tippett. Maybe we could get another asset out of that trade but I'm not sure what that would be. Sourdif?

I think the Tippett trade looks just fine. He’s had a bit of an up and down year looking great but also not playing some games.

Would be nice to ship stastny to the Avs. Gives him a real chance at winning.

I see Minny or Avs in on Stas. I would ask him what his preference was before moving him just out of respect.

FLA trade is fine. Some see it as an overlay but I think it make us better. I was a big Stanley fan but it’s time to move on and Vesa hasn’t really done much and needs a change of scenery. It definitely doesn’t make us worse. If it’s an overpay then FLA can add a mid-late pick

I could see Toronto in hard on DeMelo. That said. I would try to move Dillon or Schmidt first before DeMelo. DeMelo has stabilized every one of our players he’s played with and is really underrated.

I’m hoping there is a bit of a bidding war on Copp. I can see quite a few teams in on a defensive centre who can chip in offence at under 2M with 50% retained.

To be fair I did move Dillon also, I just think we turn the D over to the youth here and I needed to open a spot for Kovacevic. I agree that DeMelo has stabilized everyone and looks great playing with JMo on the top pair but trading 2 guys we just traded for I felt looked not great on the organization and Schmidts caphit would be harder to move. Also it feels like we actually need his energy in the room so a bit of a glue intangible I was thinking about.

With that being said there is another proposal on here by an Islanders fan that has a $900K retained schmidt for Bailey and Bellows. Maybe do that and keep DeMelo instead?

I saw Dillon was moved. I would just prefer to keep DeMelo unless the offer was really stupid or until we see how the other guys do. I’d be fine moving Dillon at the deadline and giving the youngsters some time to see how well they do then maybe move DeMelo at the draft.
