I don't see the Oilers have interest in Samsonov. The Oilers are in the same situation as the caps where they need an upgrade in net, Samsonov is likely just more of the same.

He’s only 24 and has a lot of potential. Basically trading a struggling bottom 6 forward for a potential starter.

They'd be more likely to try running Skinner (23) a bit more as he has potential as well and wouldn't cost assets to try. The Oilers don't exactly play sound defense so no reason to think Samsonov figures it out in Edmonton. They're more likely to go chasing a veteran for a rental.

Capitals defense is pretty terrible. I meant that as 1D not #1 D. I can see how that was confusing.

Capitals have so many issues. Goalie is a BIG one. Esp when you let Grub and Holtby go

Habs say no. We can get a wayyy better offer from another team. If you wanted to be in the bidding war, the 2nd switches to a 1st and you add Iorio. Or else Habs block your number

Regardless of whether the caps have a goalie issue or not, Holtby isn't the answer. He is only performing well for Dallas because Dallas plays the kind of defensive system that makes goalies look good. He was just bought out last year, for gods sakes. he wasn't even the same elite goalie before the left for Vancouver. What makes you think he would be now? At absolute best, on a team with good defense, Holtby is a tandem guy. On a team with bad defense, like the caps, he is barely and NHL caliber goalie. You're better off trading vanecek for a vet goalie they caps can hold onto as a serviceable tandem goalie while Samsonov continues developing. Or at least package Samsonov for someone like Binnington or Varlomov.

Lmfao no. That’s just stupid. Way better talent that you can get for less. Again you overvalue your players

a top C prospect and a 2nd is way more than fair.
he isn’t Eichel dude.
1st and Lapierre would be a high payment for Hertl. I don’t see a world where people would argue Toffoli is better than Hertl.
