Really depends on how the remainder of the season goes and the playoffs. Where he's at now, I would think someone offers $5mil, if he regains his early season form and goes on a run in the playoffs he could easily get 6+. Once again, based on how the rest of the season goes, I think the best comparison would be Markstrom a couple years ago who got $6x6.
Not to stray too far off topic, but the big question mark for me on Campbell is who's going to give him that money?
Your teams without a concrete goalie situatoin are Edmonton, SJ, Chicago, Arizona, Buffalo, Toronto, maybe PIttsburgh? Feels like you cross off Arizona and Buffalo because they're too far away to spend money on a 30 year old goalie. Chicago is really close to being in that group, but I would've said the same thing last year and they went out and got MAF. Edmonton is in a tough spot because Mike Smith's status for next year makes it hard to predict what they do - I could imagine them rolling Smith & Skinner so they don't have to put Skinner through waivers and risk losing him.
That leaves Toronto, San Jose, and Pittsburgh. Sharks fans can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see Adin Hill as a long term fit there, and they seem like a team that could retool for one last shot as opposed to a full teardown. Pittsburgh is losing DeSmith this offseason and I could see them signing Campbell since Jarry is UFA after 2023? And then, obviously Toronto. Feels like they might not have the most competition to try and re-sign Campbell, which I wonder if it keeps that AAV lower.
