lol yeah right. Trouba is worth about 2 or 3 Poolparties... Maybe Poolparty, Bear, and Benson.

yeah keyword is prospect. I'm not saying he isn't good, but he didn't come in the league and light it on fire like Matthews, Laine, McDavid, Eichel, etc. so stop acting like he has that kind of value. Kid has a ton of potential but you don't give up a top pairing RHD or a #1 defenseman for a prospect winger - let alone on a team where Poolparty would be the third best winger behind Ehlers and Laine.

Not many do come into the league and light it up. Especially not many players coming from European ice. I will not stop "acting like he has that kind of value" because HE DOES HAVE THAT KIND OF VALUE he just needs to adjust. Not to mention Leon Draisaitl had a worse first season then poolparty and was being treated the exact same his first season. He was being undervalued and teams were trying to get him at a minimum, now he is top 10 in NHL points (partly due to Mcdavid but still). I do understand that my opinion is very biased coming from an Oilers fan and a massive Puljujarvi fan but I do believe that he has potential to be an elite RW in the game of hockey

Nail Yakupov had lots of potential too. Trouba is a proven defenseman
Duster and BStone67 liked this.

I like Puljujarvi and I think he has a great potential as well, with his size and speed and his shot. He even has some great showings of defensive capabilities from what I've seen. But what I think the point is, is that even though he has the *potential* to get to that point, he isn't there yet, and there is the slight chance he doesn't get there. He did come from European Ice, so that could slow him down for a year or so, and he could break out next year, or he could falter and never get the proper ice time under McLellan and by the time he leaves the team or gets traded it might be too late. There are so many what ifs with prospects that it's hard to take a gamble on them and make the trade, especially European prospects and especially when it comes to the trade involving one of your touted roster-players going back the other way.
If this was a trade where it was a first year player absolutely destroying one of the CHL Leagues or lighting it up in the NCAA, then there's more promise that he might be able to adjust to the NHL game, but even then an NHL GM would be too reluctant to pull the trigger if it involved one of their roster players headed the other way, especially in this case if it's Armia, who could still develop, and Trouba, who everyone touts as a Top 2 Dman. I think Edmonton would be better playing out Puljujarvi and seeing if he could be the perfect winger for McDavid next year and I like the game of Benning more than I like Trouba. But in the long run, I don't think this would be enough for Trouba, or what Winnipeg wants, given it still clogs their RHD pipeline with Benning being a great, young Dman. Maybe if it were Myers there would be a better conversation.

His avatar is a picture of Pujujarvi...what do you expect but blind love! Don't get me wrong I think Jesse will develop into a fine NHLer but the above arguments are just invalid. He's still just a prospect, unproven yadda yadda yadda....Fact is YOUR team traded a PROVEN top 10 scoring LW for a relatively UNKNOWN young RHD in Larrson last year. Trouba is better than Larrson in almost every way and would instantly be your #1RHD and you're trading 2 potentials for him. Jets wouldn't even do that deal if it was Benning and Puljujarvi for Trouba let alone having to ADD ARMIA!!!
