It's 2022.....why do think Klingberg is worth so much. He good on the PP, but just average elsewhere.

Holl is better than Schenn.

Not enough for Klingberg-- but not worth more IMO.

If Dubas is acquiring Schenn it'll be for a draft pick. Not Holl. Truth is Dubas values Holl much more than other teams fans do.

My goal for this was essentially to make the team I wanted and then purposefully overpay to show my willingness to spend.

This would be excellent! I just see Schenn taking that 6 D spot from Holl and needed to ditch 2 mill to fit Klingberg.

I would have agreed with you 3 months ago but Schenn actually has good underlying numbers this season, especially on defense. I see him as an upgrade on Derms/Lily.

I tentatively agree with you about Holl, but the purpose of including him in that deal was to clear space for Klingberg. I see Schenn as an upgrade on Derms and Lily (for this postseason that is).

except that it's 3 months, max. and that's with Holl coming off an illness and injury. Schenn is having a nice season for him, but when you're 32 and suddenly you have an ok season after being not good for years it isnt a sign of things to come, it is a blip.
would he be a decent bottom pairing option? sure, if the cost was in line with an older guy you want as a 6th defender. He i certainly not an upgrade on Lily and about on par with Dermott in what they bring.

I think Klingberg would be a better fit with the Rangers than the Leafs. I'd focus on Manson if the Ducks are willing to trade him.

I don't see Klingberg as a rental being much better (as far as fit for TOR goes) than Holl is. Especially to give up assets. TML aren't seeking more offense.

IMO-- If they're adding to the D, it's a 2nd/3rd pair RD to improve presence in front of our net. And they don't move Holl to do that. It would be bringing in a vet to play 3rd pair, or find an upgrade to force Holl down to 3rd pair, making Dermott & Lilly 7th/8th (or one of them involved in the trade).

IMO the biggest issue with the second pairing is puck moving not force. That's my rationale for Klingberg, grab a guy who can help Muzz move the puck.
