So the solution to a slow and offensively inept defense is to.....make it even slower and worse offensively?

Not sure that's a great idea

Not really. I mean hand fans were expecting a lot more for Toffoli than they actually got. I think the Canucks could get a lot for him. Just not from the pens. They aren’t trading Marino. Especially if they are going to just spend similar money on a way worse defenseman.

No, Boeser would be a terrible return. His QO is awful and the pens wouldn’t be able to re-sign him or even offer the QO

I hope so too, but I would take this worse case. Do you think they re-sign all 3? I'm seeing a lot of talk of people saying they'd rather Rust than Malkin so just trying to gague.

You'd be able to extend him long-term at a lower figure

Malkin would probably take a massive pay cut. He said he didnt want money and does want to stay in PIT

I’d think if he was interested in that then he’d have done it by now. I see him either signing his QO (if a team is nuts enough to QO him) or he walks to free agency to take a 1 year deal and bank on himself.

I don't think that is the case, the Canucks have probably told his agent that the want to hold off negotiations until they have a clearer picture of which direction they are going in based on how their trade deadline shakes out as a whole. I think Boeser is someone who will be okay with taking less average salary to sell off more UFA years

penguins decline everyone of these trades.

The WSH trade alone, it's very telling here.
